Background: Racial discrimination has been identified as a contributing risk factor for alcohol use among racially minoritized individuals. The aims of this study were to quantify the relationship between racial discrimination and alcohol use among Asian Americans, examine gender, age and generational status as moderators, and characterize ethnic group representation across the literature.
Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted using PsycINFO, CINAHL, Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, and OpenDissertations.

Rationale: Postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) is responsible for around 27% of global maternal deaths. Perineal tears are common in vaginal births and a significant contributor to excessive blood loss. A diversity of perineal techniques are utilised to prevent perineal trauma and reduce the incidence of PPH; however, they lack evidence-based comparisons to understand their effects.

In 2021, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state partners investigated a multistate sample-initiated retrospective outbreak investigation (SIROI) consisting of a cluster of nine Salmonella Weltevreden illnesses associated with frozen, precooked shrimp imported from India.

(Diptera: Culicidae) is a tropical mosquito currently expanding into many higher-latitude regions, including the urban desert region of Maricopa County, Arizona. Here, adult populations virtually disappear in winter and spring and then increase exponentially through summer and fall, indicating that winter conditions remain a barrier to the development of some life stages of .

The objective of this study was to assess the feasibility, efficacy and safety of learning ESD in an untutored approach in a prevalence-based setting within New Zealand.
Methods: Over a 4-year period, 80 ESD procedures were performed at a single tertiary centre within New Zealand.
Background: Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA-4) insufficiency causes a primary immune regulatory disorder characterized by lymphoproliferation, dysgammaglobulinemia, and multiorgan autoimmunity including cytopenias and colitis.
Objective: We examined the outcome of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for CTLA-4 insufficiency and study the impact of pre-HSCT CTLA-4 fusion protein (CTLA-4-Ig) therapy and pre-HSCT immune dysregulation on survival and immunologic outcome.
Methods: This was a retrospective study of HSCT for CTLA-4 insufficiency and 2q33.
Oesophageal intubations are more common than may be realised and can potentially cause significant patient harm even if promptly identified and corrected. Reports of morbidity due to unrecognised oesophageal intubation continue to present in coroner and media reports. Therefore, it would be helpful to identify mechanisms to prevent these events and implement strategies to avoid and identify incorrect endotracheal tube placement.

The S type of CMS in maize is characterized by a pollen collapse phenotype and a unique paradigm for fertility restoration in which numerous nuclear restorer-of-fertility lethal mutations rescue pollen function but condition homozygous-lethal seed phenotypes. Two nonallelic restorer mutations recovered from Mutator transposon-active lines were investigated to determine the mechanisms of pollen fertility restoration and seed lethality.

Romidepsin is a relatively selective Class I HDAC inhibitor originally approved for patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) cutaneous T cell lymphoma (CTCL) and subsequently R/R PTCL. Unfortunately, the FDA approval of romidepsin for R/R PTCL was withdrawn due to a negative Phase 4 post-marketing requirement (PMR), diminishing further the treatment options for patients with PTCL.

Herein, we present a case of cutaneous and pulmonary legionellosis presenting with fever and erythematous subcutaneous nodules in a neonate with severe combined immunodeficiency. This case underscores the importance of considering this diagnosis and highlights the use of modern testing modalities to promptly diagnose and treat infections in immunocompromised patients.

Fatigue, shortness of breath, and cognitive dysfunction ("brain fog") are common. Scientists, clinicians, and patients debate the pathophysiology.

She breastfed during illness; her infant was not infected. This report addresses 3 challenges in mpox management and control: diagnosis in the absence of rash, exposures in healthcare settings, and management of lactating patients.

Despite successful pre-clinical and clinical results, these gene therapies are not widely available, primarily for non-medical reasons. Lack of commercial interest in therapies for ultra-rare diseases, costs of development and complex manufacturing processes required for advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) are some of the main problems that are restricting access.

The integration of health coaching with question-answering (QA) systems presents the potential to foster behavioural changes and enhance health outcomes. This study proposes a novel human-AI sleep coaching model, combining health coaching by peers and a QA system, and assesses its feasibility and efficacy in improving university students' sleep quality.

Ceramide nanoliposomes (CNLs), considered potential chemotherapeutic agents, induce necroptosis by targeting the activating protein mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein (MLKL). In the present study, we examined the potential of pronecroptotic therapy using CNLs for refractory triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), for which there is a lack of definite and effective therapeutic targets among the various immunohistological subtypes of breast cancer.

Understanding the intricate molecular interactions governing RAF1 folding is crucial for comprehending this process. Here, we present a cryo-EM structure of the closed-state RAF1-HSP90-CDC37 complex, where the C-lobe of the RAF1 kinase domain binds to one side of the HSP90 dimer, and an unfolded N-lobe segment of the RAF1 kinase domain threads through the center of the HSP90 dimer.

Background: Healthcare-associated infections (HCAI) place a significant burden on healthcare systems globally. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the prevalence, risk factors, and aetiologic agents of endemic HCAI in Africa.
Methods: MEDLINE/PubMed, CINAHL, and Global Health databases (EBSCOhost interface) were searched for studies published in English and French describing HCAI in Africa from 2010 to 2022.
Here, we present the light-driven reactions of [Re(η-CH)(η-CH)] () with nitriles, phosphines, and isocyanides, which are added to via a ring slippage of the tropylium cation from η to η, forming [Re(η-CH)(η-CH)(L)] (L= acetonitrile ; 2-phenylacetonitrile ; 1,3,5-triaza-5-phosphoadamantane (PTA) ; -butyl isocyanide ; benzyl isocyanide ) and [Re(η-CH)(η-CH)(L)] with L = (ethane-1,2-diyl)bis(diphenylphosphane) (dppe) . To compare the reactivities of rhenium and technetium, we also investigated the synthesis of [Tc(η-CH)], its substitution of naphthalene with cyclohepta-1,3,5-triene to obtain [Tc(η-CH)(η-CH)], and its reactivity (or lack thereof) with light.
