Article Synopsis
  • Pasteurella bettyae is a type of bacteria that can potentially cause infections in humans, primarily found in cats and dogs.
  • Recent studies propose that this bacteria may be transmitted sexually, particularly leading to genital infections in men who have sex with men.
  • A report detailed 9 specific cases of such infections occurring in France within this demographic.

FMS-related tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (FLT3L), encoded by FLT3LG, is a hematopoietic factor essential for the development of natural killer (NK) cells, B cells, and dendritic cells (DCs) in mice. We describe three humans homozygous for a loss-of-function FLT3LG variant with a history of various recurrent infections, including severe cutaneous warts. The patients' bone marrow (BM) was hypoplastic, with low levels of hematopoietic progenitors, particularly myeloid and B cell precursors.

In France, about 2000 new cases of anal cancer are diagnosed annually. Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common histological type, mostly occurring secondary to persistent HPV16 infection. Invasive cancer is preceded by precancerous lesions.

Objectives: Haemophilus parainfluenzae is an opportunistic pathogen causing respiratory tract infection and sexually transmitted diseases. The emergence of multidrug resistance in this species is particularly worrisome, especially since the recent description of CTX-M-15 ESBL-producing isolates in Spain. The aim of this study was to characterize a CTX-M-15-producing H.

BackgroundDiagnoses of bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) have increased in France since the 2000s. The main strategy to control STI transmission is recommending/facilitating access to condom use, testing, and antibiotic treatments.AimThis study analyses the evolution of STI testing in the private sector in France from 2006 to 2020.

Objective: Mycoplasma genitalium (MG) infection accounts for 10-35% of non-gonococcal non-chlamydial (NGNC) urethritis. However, given that most people infected with MG do not develop symptoms and that antimicrobial resistance is increasing worldwide, there is no evidence of any benefits of screening asymptomatic individuals. We conducted this study to describe MG screening practices and outcomes at a French Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) center in which MG testing was performed selectively and multiplex assays were not carried out [i.

Article Synopsis
  • - Giant condyloma acuminatum (BLT) is a rare, aggressive tumor in the anogenital area, often linked to infection with low-risk HPVs like HPV-6 and -11, and known for its potential to recur.
  • - The tumor is more common in individuals with immune deficiencies, whether primary (like DOCK8 or SPINK5 deficiency) or secondary (such as AIDS or after organ transplants), highlighting the importance of assessing immunity in affected patients.
  • - Understanding the genetic and immunological factors involved in BLT can help improve treatment methods and management, indicating a need for further research into its underlying causes.

Objectives: We evaluated a real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) for detection of the (TP) genome in clinical samples through simultaneous detection of two genomic targets.

Methods: We performed qPCR with TaqMan technology using two TP genes, and , as targets, with an internal positive control. The qPCR assay was compared with syphilis diagnosis based on a combination of clinical examination, serological results and inhouse nested PCR (nPCR).

Background: Unlike other types of lichen planus (LP), there are no series concerning male genital LP.

Objective: To describe the clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and response to treatment of male genital LP.

Patients And Methods: A retrospective study of male patients with genital LP consulting a dermatologist specialized in anogenital diseases between January 2010 and 2019.

The burden of STIs is particularly high in HIV-infected MSM patients. A recent increase in STIs prevalence has been noticed in the US and western European countries. We aim to assess trends in asymptomatic STIs following the publication of recommendations for STIs screening, i.

Paget's disease (PD) denotes an initially intra-epidermal adenocarcinoma that can later invade the dermis and metastasise. Among the extramammary forms of PD (EMPD), penoscrotal presentations are rarer than the vulvar and perianal forms. Once diagnosis has been confirmed by histopathological examination, a search for associated neoplasia must be conducted, although penoscrotal EMPD is less frequently associated with underlying neoplasia than mammary PD (MPD).

Background: Gonorrhoea is increasing in France since its resurgence in the late 1990's. Understanding trends of condomless sex is a requirement to tailor prevention toward most exposed individuals. This study aims to analyse trends and determinants of condomless penetrative sex (PS) in MSM and heterosexuals diagnosed with gonorrhoea in France.
