The current work describes a novel route for preparation of robust polymeric monolithic structures exhibiting magnetic properties via emulsification of a polar glycerin oil in a polymerizable hydrophobic oil of styrene as oil/oil (o/o) emulsion technique. Hydrophilic magnetite nanoparticles were first prepared via the co-precipitation method and then converted to organophilic using oleic acid as a surface coating material. The FT-IR provided evidence on the covering of the particle's surface and also revealed some hydrophilic OH groups co-exist, implying a probable amphiphilic character is acquired.

Introduction: Radiologists have extensively employed the interpretation of chest X-rays (CXR) to identify visual markers indicative of COVID-19 infection, offering an alternative approach for the screening of infected individuals. This research article presents CovMediScanX, a deep learning-based framework designed for a rapid and automated diagnosis of COVID-19 from CXR scan images.

Methods: The proposed approach encompasses gathering and preprocessing CXR image datasets, training deep learning-based custom-made Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), pre-trained and hybrid transfer learning models, identifying the highest-performing model based on key evaluation metrics, and embedding this model into a web interface called CovMediScanX, designed for radiologists to detect the COVID-19 status in new CXR images.

Aspirin, also known as acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), is one of the most crucial therapies needed and/or used in a basic health system. Using biocompatible materials to encapsulate ASA would improve its therapeutic efficacy and reduce its side effects controlled release in physiological environments. Consequently, we explore in this study the feasibility of encapsulation of ASA into robust L.

For the first time, σ-hole interactions within like⋯like carbon-containing complexes were investigated, in both the absence and presence of the external electric field (EEF). The effects of the directionality and strength of the utilized EEF were thoroughly unveiled in the (F-C-F), (F-C-H), and (H-C-F) complexes. In the absence of the EEF, favorable interaction energies, with negative values, are denoted for the (F-C-F) and (H-C-F) complexes, whereas the (F-C-H) complex exhibits unfavorable interactions.

A quantum chemical study was accomplished on the σ-hole interactions of the barely explored group IV elements, for the first time, in the absence and presence of the positively and negatively directed external electric field (EEF). The analyses of molecular electrostatic potential addressed the occurrence of the σ-hole on all the inspected tetrel atoms, confirming their salient versatility to engage in σ-hole interactions. MP2 energetic findings disclosed the occurrence of favorable σ-hole interactions within the tetrel bonding complexes.

Folic acid (FA) is a crucial vitamin for all living creatures. However, it is susceptible to degradation under pH, heat, ultraviolet (UV) and day sunlight conditions, resulting in lowering its bioavailability. Therefore, a versatile protective encapsulation system for FA is highly required to overcome its inherent instability.
