AFB₁ is transferred from poultry feed to eggs, meat, and other edible parts, representing a threat to the health of consumers because AFB₁ is carcinogenic and implicated in human liver cancer. This review considers how AFB₁ produced by and strains can affect the immune system, antioxidant defense system, digestive system, and reproductive system in poultry, as well as its effects on productivity and reproductive performance.

A new functionalized polymer monolithic capillary with a macrocyclic antibiotic, namely colistin sulfate, as chiral selector was prepared via the copolymerization of binary monomer mixtures consisting of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) in porogenic solvents namely 1-propanol and 1,4-butanediol, in the presence of azobisiso-butyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator and colistin sulfate. The prepared capillaries were investigated for the enantioselective nano-LC separation of a group of racemic pharmaceuticals, namely, α- and β-blockers, anti-inflammatory drugs, antifungal drugs, norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitors, catecholamines, sedative hypnotics, antihistaminics, anticancer drugs, and antiarrhythmic drugs. Acceptable separation was achieved for many drugs using reversed phase chromatographic conditions with no separation achieved under normal phase conditions.

Spring viremia of carp, a fatal viral disease, is caused by the spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV) and can result in up to 70% mortalities in common carps and significant economic losses in several other cyprinid aquaculture. The present study aimed to investigate the possible control of SVCV replication in Epithelioma papulosum cyprini (EPC) cells using the RNA interference technology targeting the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (L) gene of the SVCV that is essential for its replication. Three stealth small interfering RNA (siRNA) sequences were designed to target three different regions on the SVCV-L gene.

The capabilities of cobalt ions (Co2+) and cobalt nanoparticles (CoNPs) in enhancing alkaloids accumulation in Catharanthus roseus suspension cultures were evaluated in relation to the expression of CrMPK3 gene. Four concentrations (5, 10, 15 and 20 mg/L) of each cobalt form were utilized in addition to control. Both forms induced oxidative stress that was more pronounced for Co2+ treatments.
