Background Nutrition is associated with oral health and any changes in dietary habits have impacted nutritional profiles which in turn influences oral health status. Objective To assess the oral health and nutritional status among school teachers in Dharamshala city, Himachal Pradesh. Method A descriptive cross-sectional study was undertaken with interviews and documented using a structured and adapted WHO proforma.

The Assessment of Functional Status Among COVID-19 Patients at Three Months Using Pulmonary Function Tests.

Introduction The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has impacted the lives of thousands of patients worldwide with many patients having residual symptoms months after the acute infection. The severity of lung involvement ranges from mild asymptomatic to severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which may lead to pulmonary fibrosis. Pulmonary fibrosis increases the long-term morbidity of post-COVID-19 patients in the form of restrictive lung disease.

Clinical and laboratory profile of patients with presumptive clinical diagnosis of acute bacterial meningitis and its short-term complications.

Background: Worldwide, one million cases of bacterial meningitis are estimated to occur and 200,000 of them die annually. Case fatality rates vary with age at the time of illness and the species of bacterium causing infection. In view of variable clinical features and complication rates in various studies, the present study was planned to assess the clinical and laboratory profile of patients with acute bacterial meningitis and analyze the therapeutic response and short-term sequelae.

Background: Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) refers to a group of clinical symptoms compatible with acute myocardial ischemia and includes unstable angina, non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction and ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.

Clinical Validation of Mobile Cardiotocograph Device for Intrapartum and Antepartum Monitoring Compared to Standard Cardiotocograph: An Inter-Rater Agreement Study.

Electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) using cardiotocograph (CTG) is commonly used both to assess fetal wellbeing in late antepartum and for intervention during intrapartum period. We validated the performance of indigenously developed mobile cardiotocograph (CTG) device with wireless probes compared to standard CTG device. We sequentially used mobile and standard CTG devices in 495 pregnant women in labour and 359 pregnant women with gestation > 32 weeks.

Molecular tools for identification of shark species involved in depredation incidents in Western Australian fisheries.

Shark depredation is an issue of concern in some Western Australian recreational and commercial fisheries where it can have economic, social and ecological consequences. Knowledge of the shark species involved is fundamental to developing effective management strategies to mitigate the impacts of depredation. Identification of the species responsible is difficult as direct observation of depredation events is uncommon and evaluating bite marks on fish has a high degree of uncertainty.

Green tobacco sickness (GTS) is the condition that mainly affects the tobacco harvesters. The condition is prevalent in Asian and South American tobacco harvesters. The present review was conducted to discuss the etiology, epidemiology, symptoms, and prevention of GTS.

Association between oral health status and oral health-related quality of life among the prison inmate population of kanda model jail, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India.

The prison population is a challenging one with many health problems including oral health. In a country such as India, the information regarding the oral health status in prisoners is scant. So, a cross-sectional study was carried out among a 311 prison inmate population of Kanda model jail, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India, to assess the dental caries levels, periodontal health status, and oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL).

Oral Cancer Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices: A Survey of Undergraduate Medical Students in Himachal Pradesh, India.

Background: Oral cancer is the sixth most common cancer among Indian males and the third most common cancer among Indian females. Early detection of oral cancers makes them more amenable to treatment and allows the greatest chance of cure. Lack of awareness among the health care providers is the most significant factor in delaying diagnosis and treatment of oral cancer.

Hemihyperplasia is a heterogenous group of disorders characterized by asymmetric limb growth. Confusion regarding their classification and ascertainment into various syndromes still exists. Subtle, asymmetric variation of the unilateral structures of the head, face, trunk or extremities may occur in the general population in the absence of any local lesion or condition.

Health management during handling and live transport of crustaceans: a review.

Best practice approaches used in the live transport of commercial crustacean species groups are reviewed and the physiological responses to handling practices are described. Codes of practice aimed at providing technological guidelines in handling and transportation of live prawns, lobsters, crabs and freshwater crayfish are examined. While some handling and transport practices are common across species groups, for example purging and chilling, recommended practices vary with species group.

Silicosis with bilateral spontaneous pneumothorax.

Presentation with simultaneous bilateral pneumothorax is uncommon and usually in the context of secondary spontaneous pneumothorax. The association of pneumothorax and silicosis is infrequent and most cases are unilateral. Bilateral pneumothorax in silicosis is very rare with just a few reports in medical literature.

Obstructing mass lesion of epiglottis: it can be tubercular.

We report a case of 60-year old male who had difficulty in breathing as well as in swallowing. On examination, he was found to be having proliferative growth of epiglottis and right aryepiglottic fold mimicking neoplasm. So emergency tracheostomy was performed and biopsy taken.
