Background: To increase safety in elite alpine ski racing Injury Surveillance Systems were implemented and preventive measures introduced. However, studies analysing the change in athletes' injury risk by controlling for their exposure are still scarce.
Objectives: This study aimed to describe and analyse the risk of in-competition severe injury events (SIE) in elite alpine ski racing.
Retiring professional athletes face multifaceted changes and potential issues of adjustment, occupational development, and well-being, which raises concerns around the world. The study systematically reviewed the available research investigating professional soccer players' sport retirement from social sciences perspectives. The literature search in electronic databases and a "snowballing" procedure yielded 17 eligible studies investigating > 2,200 retired professional soccer players.

Objectives: The response rate, efficacy, side-effects, reasons for discontinuation of therapy and survival rate of 47 patients treated with temozolomide in combination with two different dosing regimens of IFN-alpha 2b were documented.
Patients/methods: Twenty-nine male and 18 female patients (mean age 57.
Dermatoscopes are directly placed on the skin of patients and therefore may harbour potentially pathogenic bacteria. In this study we assessed bacterial contamination of dermatoscopes during routine use and examined the effectiveness of isopropyl alcohol and disposable lens covers. Aerobic bacterial cultures were performed on randomly selected dermatoscopes after examination of 39 patients.

A 32-year-old man presented with a chronic rosacea-like dermatitis of the facial skin and the eyelids. The skin disorder had been present for 4 years and was unresponsive to multiple previous treatment attempts. Skin scrapings and a histologic examination of a biopsy specimen from the affected area revealed the presence of numerous Demodex mites.

Recently, studies have indicated that microdialysis, a method of continuous in vivo sampling of extracellular fluid, may also be performed in human skin. The present study was designed to evaluate this technique for kinetic analyses of cutaneous drug levels.

Chronic GVHD is a systemic disease, involving, among other organs, the skin, mouth, liver, and esophagus. Esophageal involvement results in mucosal inflammation, leading to submucosal fibrosis and, occasionally, formation of webs and strictures.

In the early stages of CTCL diagnosis is challenging and may require a combination of clinical, pathological, immunomorphologic and molecular findings. The identification of early disease is crucial for the rapid implementation of adequate treatment, which may even be curative as has been reported with psoralen photochemotherapy (PUVA), total skin electron beam (TSEB) irradiation and topical chemotherapy.

Median follow-up after BMT is 40 months (range 2-116 months), the median observation time 29 months (range 2-40 months). In 15 patients (50%), bcr-abl-specific mRNA could be detected following BMT.

Coagulation disorders and obesity might complicate transabdominal paracentesis. In a woman with severe thrombocytopenia we used the vaginal approach guided by vaginosonography to obtain ascitic fluid for analysis.

Fifty-five consecutive patients with de novo AML or relapse who received intensive chemotherapy underwent regular ultrasound examinations. In 16 patients (29.
