Indium selenide, InSe, has recently attracted growing interest due to its remarkable properties, including room temperature ferroelectricity, outstanding photoresponsivity, and exotic in-plane ferroelectricity, which open up new regimes for next generation electronics. InSe also provides the important advantage of tuning the electrical properties of ultrathin layers with an external electrical and magnetic field, making it a potential platform to study novel two-dimensional physics. Yet, InSe has many different polymorphs, and it has been challenging to synthesize a single phase material, especially using scalable growth methods, as needed for technological applications.

BiFeO thin films have been widely studied for photoelectrochemical water splitting applications because of its narrow bandgap and good ferroelectricity which can promote the separation of photo-generated charges. Bismuth is well known as a volatile element and excess bismuth is usually added into the precursor to compensate the loss of bismuth during heat treatment, but the amount of excess bismuth required and how excess bismuth will affect PEC performance have not been clearly studied. Herein, self-doped Bi FeO thin films are prepared simple chemical solution deposition method with excess bismuth from 0-30% in the precursor.

Objectives: Silk-hyaluronic acid (silk-HA) is a novel vocal fold augmentation material used in humans since July 2020. We aim to describe indications, voice outcomes, and longevity data for silk-HA injectable when used for vocal fold injection (VFI) augmentation in a large cohort of patients with longer-term follow-up than preliminary clinical studies.

Methods: Retrospective chart review of Silk-HA injections for glottic insufficiency (GI) and follow-up between July 2020 and November 2023.

Background: Given the negative environmental impacts of pharmaceuticals, including their contribution to healthcare's carbon footprint, pharmacists have a role in responding to the climate and biodiversity crises. Knowledge and education are required to support transitions to environmentally sustainable pharmacy practice (ESPP). The aim of this study was to explore Australian undergraduate pharmacy students' knowledge and attitudes towards environmental sustainability and ESPP curriculum content.

Article Synopsis
  • - Magnetic topological materials, particularly Mn-rich MnSbTe, are explored for their unique quantum phenomena and high temperature ferromagnetic properties, making them suitable for future tech applications.
  • - The study classifies samples based on the proportion of septuple layers (x), revealing distinct magnetic transition temperatures (T) that vary with x: samples with x < 0.7 have T values around 15-20 K, while those with x > 0.9 show T values of 20-30 K.
  • - Notably, samples with 0.7 < x < 0.8 exhibit two T values—one at ~25 K and the other exceeding 80 K—indicating the influence of structural

Introduction: Drowning is the leading cause of death among commercial fishermen in the United States. Approximately 30% of all commercial fishing fatalities are attributed to falls overboard. One of the simplest and most affordable ways to prevent these fatalities is for crewmembers to wear personal flotation devices (PFDs) while on deck.

The ability to program in R, an open-source statistical program, is increasingly valued across job markets, including ecology. The benefits of teaching R to undergraduates are abundant, but learning to code in R may induce anxiety for students, potentially leading to negative learning outcomes and disengagement. Anecdotes suggest a gender differential in programming anxiety, with women experiencing greater anxiety.

Reducing the contamination rates in mid-stream urine samples is a challenge. A novel design for a mid-stream urine sample collection device, which uses a novel mechanism to separate the mid-stream flow from the fore-stream and end-stream flows based on flow speed, is presented. The device, supplied in two parts, is designed to be clipped to a toilet and used in a seated position, which improves ease of use for disabled patients.

To explore preceptors' perceptions about the performance of undergraduate pharmacy students during experiential placements in Australia, before and after curricular transformation. Using a semi-structured approach, we interviewed 26 preceptors who had recently supervised students who took part in the transformed curriculum and students from the previous curriculum. A directed content analysis approach was used to analyze the transcripts.

Rapid climate warming is altering Arctic and alpine tundra ecosystem structure and function, including shifts in plant phenology. While the advancement of green up and flowering are well-documented, it remains unclear whether all phenophases, particularly those later in the season, will shift in unison or respond divergently to warming. Here, we present the largest synthesis to our knowledge of experimental warming effects on tundra plant phenology from the International Tundra Experiment.

On September 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria made landfall on Puerto Rico as a category 4 storm, resulting in serious widespread impact across the island, including communication and power outages, water systems impairment, and damage to life-saving infrastructure. In collaboration with the Puerto Rico Department of Health, the Public Health Branch (PHB), operating under the Department of Health and Human Services Incident Response Coordination Team, was tasked with completing assessments of health-care facilities in Puerto Rico to determine infrastructure capabilities and post-hurricane capacity. Additionally, in response to significant data entry and presentation needs, the PHB leadership worked with the Puerto Rico Planning Board to develop and test a new app-based infrastructure capacity assessment tool.

We report on the growth and characterization of optical quality multiple quantum well structures of Zn Cd Se/Zn Cd Mg Se on an ultra-thin BiSe/CdTe virtual substrate on c-plane AlO (sapphire). Excellent quality highly oriented films grown along the (111) direction were achieved as evidenced by reflection high energy electron diffraction and X-ray diffraction studies. We also observed room temperature and 77 K photoluminescence emission with peak energies at 77 K of 2.

Translation research in occupational safety and health is the application of scientific investigative approaches to study how the outputs of basic and applied research can be effectively translated into practice and have an impact. This includes the study of the ways in which useful knowledge and interventions are disseminated, adopted, implemented, and institutionalized. In this paper, a 4-stage framework (Development, Testing, Institutionalization, and Evaluation) is presented.

Little is known about the use of complementary medicines by people living with HIV in Australia since the advent of more effective combination antiretroviral therapy. We conducted an anonymous survey of 1211 adult patients receiving combination antiretroviral therapy from one of eight specialist HIV clinics across Australia, aiming to identify the current patterns of use of ingestible complementary medicines. Data collected included reasons for use, information sources and rates of disclosure of use of complementary medicines to medical practitioners and pharmacists.

Link nurses are practising nurses with an expressed interest in a given specialty, with formal links to clinical nurse specialists and other specialist staff. The role involves attending meetings to discuss ideas and new developments, and relaying findings to other ward nurses to improve their practice. Such nurses are common in many specialties such as diabetes and tissue viability.

Pain is a common complaint in the elderly, and opioids are useful agents for management of both acute and chronic pain. Opioids are known to cause a variety of adverse effects, and these adverse effects can be particularly problematic for the frail elderly patient and may limit their use. As a result, this can lead to undertreatment of pain and poor patient outcome.

Experiences of closeness in romantic relationships are associated with heightened levels of relational well-being and mental health. However, individuals differ in the degree of closeness they desire in their relationships. This study used the construct of inclusion of other in self (IOS) to analyze discrepancies between individuals' actual and ideal levels of closeness in their relationships and the implications of these discrepancies for relational well-being and mental health.

Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is prevalent in surgical patients with known risk factors: general anesthesia, female, nonsmoker, motion sickness history, and PONV history. Common treatment involves ondansetron; however, the effects are short-lived, and supplemental medication may be required. Meclizine, a long-acting drug with a low side-effect profile, may be ideal in combination with ondansetron for at-risk patients.
