Introduction: Intracranial aneurysms (IAs) occur in 3-5% of the general population and are characterized by localized structural deterioration of the arterial wall with loss of internal elastic lamina and disruption of the media. The risk of incidence and rupture of aneurysms depends on age, sex, ethnicity, and other different factors, indicating the influence of genetic and environmental factors. When an aneurysm ruptures, there is an estimated 20% mortality rate, along with an added 30-40% morbidity in survivors.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the diagnostic accuracy of ultrasonography for intussusception in children, which can be difficult to diagnose due to nonspecific clinical signs and unclear patient histories.
  • A systematic review of 37 studies found that ultrasonography has high pooled sensitivity (0.96) and specificity (0.97) for detecting intussusception.
  • Additionally, there was no significant difference in diagnostic performance between point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and radiologist-performed ultrasound (RADUS).
