The cytokine storm associated with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) triggers a hypercoagulable state leading to venous and arterial thromboembolism. Lab findings associated with this phenomenon are elevated D-dimer, fibrinogen, C-reactive protein (CRP), ferritin, and procalcitonin. We present the case of a 66-year-old male with dyslipidemia who was diagnosed with COVID-19 with worsening shortness of breath, myalgia, and loss of taste.

It is commonly found in the upper gastrointestinal tract, specifically in the stomach and small intestine. To date, only about 18 adult cases of heterotopic pancreas in the esophagus have been reported in the English medical literature; seven of which were in women, and five of which originated at the gastroesophageal junction (GEJ).

Methods: Raw data were obtained from Saving Sight Eye Bank (Kansas City, MO) including 10,454 donated eyes from 5346 eligible donors from July 2014 through May 2017. Donors were grouped into 5 categories by their insulin use and the presence of microvascular end-organ complications.

Type 2 diabetes is at epidemic proportions and thus development of novel pharmaceutical therapies for improving insulin sensitivity has become of paramount importance. The objectives of the current study were to develop novel dual PPARγ/δ agonists without the deleterious side effects associated with full PPARγ agonists. Docking simulations of 23 novel compounds within the ligand binding domain of PPARγ/δ were performed using AutoDock Vina which consistently reproduced experimental binding poses from known PPAR agonists.
