Metastasis to vital organs remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths, emphasizing an urgent need for actionable targets in advanced-stage cancer. The role of mitochondrial Rho GTPase 2 (MIRO2) in prostate cancer growth was recently reported; however, whether MIRO2 is important for additional steps in the metastatic cascade is unknown. Here, we show that knockdown of MIRO2 ubiquitously reduces tumor cell invasion in vitro and suppresses metastatic burden in prostate and breast cancer mouse models.

Decarboxylative cross-coupling of carboxylic acids and aryl halides has become a key transformation in organic synthesis to form C(sp)-C(sp) bonds. In this report, a base metal pairing between Fe and Ni has been developed with complementary reactivity to the well-established Ir and Ni metallaphotoredox reactions. Utilizing an inexpensive FeCl cocatalyst along with a pyridine carboxamidine Ni catalyst, a range of aryl iodides can be preferentially coupled to carboxylic acids over boronic acid esters, triflates, chlorides, and even bromides in high yields.

Polymer nanodiscs are an attractive alternative to surfactants for studying integral membrane proteins within their native lipid environment. Here, we investigate the use of such polymers to isolate a computationally-designed de novo membrane cytochrome named CytbX. We show that the block copolymers known as CyclAPols can efficiently extract CytbX directly from biomembranes and are compatible with the downstream purification and biophysical characterisation of this artificial protein.

Introduction: There remains a high unmet need for disease-modifying therapies that can impact disability progression in secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS). Following positive results of the phase 2 MS-STAT study, the MS-STAT2 phase 3 trial will evaluate the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of repurposed high-dose simvastatin in slowing the progression of disability in SPMS.

Unlabelled: Patients with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) exhibit high rates of metastases and poor prognoses. The Eyes absent (EYA) family of proteins are developmental transcriptional cofactors/phosphatases that are re-expressed and/or upregulated in numerous cancers. Herein, we demonstrate that EYA3 correlates with decreased survival in breast cancer, and that it strongly, and specifically, regulates metastasis via a novel mechanism that involves NF-kB signaling and an altered innate immune profile at the pre-metastatic niche (PMN).

Methods: Data from 37 semi-structured interviews with 22 people with MS, eight employers, and seven healthcare professionals were analysed using a framework method informed by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research and an intervention logic model.

Results: Four themes were identified relating to the structure of current NHS services, how to improve access to and awareness of VR services, the collaboration between internal and external networks, and the benefits of integrating VR within the NHS services.

Adipose tissue (AT) expands through both hyperplasia and hypertrophy. During adipogenesis, adipose stromal and progenitor cells (ASPC) proliferate and then accumulate lipids, influenced by the local AT microenvironment. Increased adipogenic capacity is desirable as it relates to metabolic health, especially in transition dairy cows where excess free fatty acids in circulation can compromise metabolic and immune health.
