Bronchial thermoplasty is a treatment option for patients with severe asthma. We report a case series of 6 patients who underwent bronchial thermoplasty on two separate occasions for poorly controlled asthma. The repeat procedures were well tolerated with no unexpected complications.

The decline in influenza-related studies published since 2018 resulted in data gaps, particularly in emerging markets. This systematic review searched for studies in six databases and gray literature sources to define the clinical burden of influenza and influenza-like illness (ILIs) and their associated sequelae among humans across emerging markets.

It aimed to inform policy discussions and healthcare planning for effective ASCVD management.
Methods: A deterministic, prevalence-based model was used to project the annual health burden and direct medical costs associated with recurrent ASCVD events over a 10-year horizon.
Breast cancer remains a significant global health concern, impacting millions of women every year. Maslinic acid (MA), a pentacyclic triterpene has been found to exert promising anticancer effect in various cancers, including breast cancer, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to elucidate the anticancer properties of MA via gene expression profiles in breast cancer cells.

Many claudicants also have concomitant neurogenic aetiologies and revascularization alone may not be beneficial. These cases can prove to be a diagnostic challenge.

Evidence-based research during the COVID-19 pandemic has found that university students are more likely to experience migraine. Migraine can affect academic performance, sleep pattern, social and emotional well-being if left untreated or misdiagnosed.

In a previous randomized controlled trial, participants receiving community health worker (CHW) support and education for their primary care providers (PCPs) had higher tobacco abstinence rates at 2 years, partly because of increased initiation of tobacco-cessation pharmacotherapy. The authors aimed to determine the association between CHW-participant engagement and tobacco abstinence outcomes.

For the health system to run more efficiently, patients should be appropriately sited according to their medical needs. In Singapore, community hospitals serve as an intermediate inpatient facility managing patients with sub-acute and rehabilitation care needs.

Methods: Data were collected by the Asia-Pacific Observatory on Health Systems and Policies (APO)-National University of Singapore and APO-International Health Policy Program consortium members: Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, and Singapore. Data were collected through a combination of semi-structured interviews, policy document reviews, and analysis of secondary data.
Introduction: The expanding geographical range of blacklegged ticks (BLTs), Ixodes scapularis, and its ability to transmit Borrelia burgdorferi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Babesia microti, and Borrelia miyamotoi poses an emerging public health risk. Our study determined the geographic distribution and the minimum infection rate (MIR) of B. burgdorferi-, A.

This article presents the genetic analysis of a STB-T1A strain, isolated from the spine of a 29-year-old female diagnosed with spinal tuberculosis. Genomic DNA was extracted from pure culture and subjected to sequencing using the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 sequencing system.

We conducted a meta-analysis to estimate rates of psychotic experiences, clinical high-risk for psychosis syndrome (CHR-P), and psychotic disorders identified by screening treatment-seeking individuals to inform implementation recommendations for routine psychosis screening in general psychiatric settings.
Methods: PubMed and Web of Science databases were searched to identify empirical studies that contained information on the point prevalence of psychotic experiences, CHR-P, or psychotic disorders identified by screening inpatient and outpatient samples aged 12-64 receiving general psychiatric care.
Covert speech (CS) refers to speaking internally to oneself without producing any sound or movement. CS is involved in multiple cognitive functions and disorders. Reconstructing CS content by brain-computer interface (BCI) is also an emerging technique.

Despite demonstrated symptomatic benefit, the underlying mechanisms by which this is achieved remain uncertain. We hypothesize that the effects of BT are driven by improvements in ventilation heterogeneity as assessed using functional respiratory imaging (FRI).

Interactive semantic segmentation pursues high-quality segmentation results at the cost of a small number of user clicks. It is attracting more and more research attention for its convenience in labeling semantic pixel-level data. Existing interactive segmentation methods often pursue higher interaction efficiency by mining the latent information of user clicks or exploring efficient interaction manners.

Existing approaches towards anomaly detection (AD) often rely on a substantial amount of anomaly-free data to train representation and density models. However, large anomaly-free datasets may not always be available before the inference stage; in which case an anomaly detection model must be trained with only a handful of normal samples, a.k.

In a randomized trial, participants offered community health worker (CHW) support and primary care provider (PCP) education had higher tobacco abstinence rates at two years, partly through increased tobacco cessation pharmacotherapy initiation. This study determined the association between participant-CHW engagement and tobacco abstinence outcomes.

This retrospective study described the epidemiology of respiratory pathogens in adults over a 5-year period at an Australian tertiary healthcare network.
Methods: All multiplex reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction respiratory samples taken between the 1st of November 2014 and the 31st of October 2019 were included in this study.
Spinal infection comprises pyogenic and non-pyogenic spondylodiscitis. This condition may manifest with non-specific clinical symptoms, elevated infective parameters and imaging findings that are difficult to distinguish. The cornerstone of a definitive diagnosis and subsequent successful treatment lies in tissue analysis through culture and histopathological studies.
