The aims of this study were to: 1) evaluate the impact of intravaginal progesterone (P4) inserts containing different amounts of P4 on pregnancy rates of predominantly Bos taurus beef cows exposed to fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) using estradiol and P4-based synchronization protocols, and 2) evaluate the impact of delayed luteolysis on the fertility of cows receiving P4 insert with less P4. Cows (n = 1744) were randomly assigned to 1 of 3 treatments: 1) 2.0 mg of estradiol benzoate together with an intravaginal P4-releasing insert containing 1.

The production of therapeutic glycoproteins is primarily expensive due to the necessity of culturing mammalian cells. These systems often require complex and costly culture media and typically yield low amounts of protein. Leishmania tarentolae, a non-pathogenic protozoan to mammals, has emerged as a cost-effective alternative system for heterologous glycoprotein expression due to its suitability for large-scale production using low-cost culture media, and its ability to perform mammalian-like post-translational modifications, including glycosylation.

Superstimulatory protocols using follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) or FSH combined with equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) are capable of stimulating the follicular microenvironment and drive the expression of biomarker genes associated with lipid metabolism in the cumulus-oocyte complex (COC) for better embryo development.

Human papillomavirus (HPV), known primarily as the etiological agent of cervical cancer, also appears active in breast carcinogenesis, as evidenced in our study of 56 patients from northeastern Brazil. We assessed the clinical and sociodemographic characteristics, correlating them with various breast cancer tumor types.

Postpartum beef cows (n = 882) were randomly assigned to 1 of 2 treatments: 1) 7&7 Synch: cows received a controlled internal drug release insert (CIDR) and a 25-mg injection of prostaglandin F on day 0, 100 μg of GnRH on day 7, a second injection of prostaglandin F (PG2) at CIDR removal on day 14, and a second injection of GnRH at FTAI 60-66 h after PG2 (day 17); 2) 7&6 Synch: cows received the same treatment as 7&7 Synch; however, CIDR removal occurred in conjunction with PG2 on day 13, while FTAI remained at 60-66 h after CIDR removal (day 16). Ovarian ultrasonography was performed to determine follicle diameter at PG2 and FTAI in a subset of cows (n = 40).

Bovine embryos were generated in vitro and allocated into two groups based on oxygen tension (20% or 5%) at 18 h post insemination (hpi). At 40 hpi, embryos were categorized into Fast (≥4 cells) or Slow (2 cells) groups, resulting in four experimental groups: FCL20, FCL5, SCL20 and SCL5.

Recently, a condition manifesting primarily in the trachea, known as hemorrhagic tracheitis syndrome (HTS), has been described in pigs. HTS is characterized by severe coughing and high mortality in finishing pigs.

Although the luteinizing hormone receptor (LHCGR) has been detected in the preantral follicles of rats, rabbits, and pigs, its expression, in bovine fetal ovary, has not been demonstrated. Based on this, we aimed to investigate the expression of the and mRNA binding protein (), as well as, to quantify bta-miR-222 (a regulatory microRNA of the LHCGR gene) during the development of bovine fetal ovary.

Given the limited availability of effective antimicrobial agents to combat MRSA infections, there is an increasing need to explore alternative therapeutic strategies. This study aimed to assess the antimicrobial, anti-adhesive, anti-biofilm properties, and toxicity of 175 newly synthesized compounds, belonging to seven different classes, against MRSA.

This study investigated the changes in Young's modulus (YM), storage modulus (E'), loss modulus (E"), and porosity of native and decellularized bovine reproductive tissues during the estrous cycle. Testis tunica albuginea had significantly higher YM, E', and E" than the inner testis, indicating greater stiffness and viscoelasticity.

While its potential benefits have been extensively explored and confirmed, its implementation is still suboptimal, due to various possible barriers. This study aimed to assess training and attitudes concerning CR among physicians in a Portuguese setting.

Non-frozen (NF) or freezing/thawing (FT) strip loins were aged (for 14 and 28 days) using two systems: bone-in dry-aging (DA); boneless wet-aging (WA). FT-treated samples had greater weight losses (P < 0.

The α-L-fucosidase (FUCA) is a natural glycosidase present in the oviductal fluid, therefore, this study aimed at investigating the effect of adding FUCA to the hardening of the zona pellucida (ZP), polyspermy control, and embryonic yield and quality of bovine blastocysts produced in vitro. In the first experiment, the effect of FUCA (0.

Dynamic functional changes are observed in the oviduct cells, mainly controlled by steroid hormones and well-orchestrated during the estrous cycle. However, based on the roles played by the oviduct, additional layers of complexity might be present in its regulatory process.

The pH value and instrumental cured color were not affected by the type or amount of curing agent used. Products with 25 and 50 mg/kg ingoing nitrite had lower thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance values than those with equimolar amounts of S-nitrosothiols.

Yeast oils can be used for biodiesel production instead of edible oils, mitigating the use of arable land and water for biodiesel production. Maximum lipid accumulation is reached at 48 h of cultivation by the oleaginous yeast Papiliotrema laurentii UFV-1.

This study evaluated differences in uterine microbiota composition between uterine horns ipsilateral and contralateral to the corpus luteum of beef cows on day 15 of the estrous cycle. Cows ( = 23) were exposed to an estrus synchronization protocol to exogenously induce synchronized ovulation. Cows were then euthanized on day 15 of the estrous cycle, and individual swabs were collected from uterine horns ipsilateral and contralateral to the corpus luteum using aseptic techniques.

Methods: between 2010 and 2022, 12 cases of bleeding AHC were attended in a high-complexity university hospital in southern Brazil, whose medical records were retrospectively evaluated.
Objective: To identify growth and reproductive measurements that can be used to select heifers with the potential to be more reproductively efficient.
Sample: A total of 2,843 heifers consigned to the Georgia Heifer Evaluation and Reproductive Development program between 2012 and 2021 with a mean (min, max) age of heifers at delivery of 347 days (275, 404).
Procedures: Reproductive tract maturity score (RTMS), weight at delivery as a percentage of target breeding weight, hip height 3 to 4 weeks after delivery, and average daily gain during the first 3 to 4 weeks after delivery were evaluated as potential predictors of the variables of interest.
This experiment evaluated reproductive and productive responses of beef cows receiving self-fed low-moisture blocks (LMB) enriched or not with Ca salts of soybean oil (CSSO) throughout the breeding season. Non-pregnant, suckled multiparous Angus-influenced cows were assigned to a fixed-time artificial insemination (AI) protocol (day -10 to 0) followed by natural service (day 15-70). Cows were managed in 12 groups (46 ± 4 cows/group) maintained in individual pastures, and groups received LMB enriched with 25 % (as-fed basis) of CSSO or ground corn (CON) from day - 10 to 100.
