This quantitative descriptive study explored the impact of virtual reality (VR) simulation on nursing students' understanding of social determinants of health (SDOH). The study assessed students' knowledge and attitudes toward SDOH after participating in VR simulations that mimicked diverse home environments and client scenarios. The intervention was intended to prepare future nurses for practice in diverse community settings and deepen their understanding of community challenges, particularly those impacted by socioeconomic disparities.

Here, using a stabilized HIV envelope trimer immunogen, we carried out studies in nonhuman primates (NHPs) comparing the most common clinical adjuvant aluminum hydroxide (alum) with saponin/monophosphoryl lipid A nanoparticles (SMNP), an immune-stimulating complex-like adjuvant. SMNP elicited substantially stronger humoral immune responses than alum, including 7-fold higher peak antigen-specific germinal center B-cell responses, 18-fold higher autologous neutralizing antibody titers, and higher levels of antigen-specific plasma and memory B cells.

Vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, and small-molecule antivirals are now either available or in development to prevent and treat RSV infections. Although rodent and non-rodent preclinical animal models have been used to evaluate these emerging agents, there is still a need to improve our understanding of the pharmacokinetic (PK)-pharmacodynamic (PD) relationships within and between animal models to enable better design of human challenge studies and clinical trials.

An enhanced group prenatal care program, "Glow! Group Prenatal Care and Support," was developed in California's Central Valley in response to poor perinatal mental health, disrespectful care experiences, and high rates of adverse birth outcomes among families with low incomes.
Methods: Engaging Mothers & Babies; Reimagining Antenatal Care for Everyone (EMBRACE) is a pragmatic, two-arm, randomized, comparative-effectiveness study designed to assess depression (primary outcome), the experience of care (secondary outcome), and preterm birth (exploratory outcome) among Medi-Cal (California's Medicaid program)-eligible pregnant and birthing people, comparing those assigned to Glow! Group Prenatal Care and Support (Glow/GC) with those assigned to enhanced, individual prenatal care through the California Department of Public Health's Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP/IC).
Background: Access to maternity care in the U.S. remains inequitable, impacting over two million women in maternity care "deserts.

Here, we describe a novel strategy to concomitantly repress multiple genes using zinc finger proteins fused to Krüppel-Associated Box repression domains (ZF-Rs). This was achieved via the optimization of a lentiviral system tailored for the delivery of ZF-Rs in hematopoietic cells.

Before the described technique, primary white adipocytes could not be stably cultured in vitro. The lack of a reliable primary culture model impeded research in WAT metabolism and drug development.

The resulting leads were characterized in detail using a combination of isothermal titration calorimetry, H NMR spectroscopy, electrospray ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (ESI-TOF-MS), and X-ray crystallography. The equilibrium dissociation constant values determined for the binding of Q8 to nonterminal dipeptide sites Lys-Phe (KF) and Phe-Lys (FK) were 60 and 86 nm, respectively.

Since the 2022 release of a popular large language model, AI has become readily accessible to the general population, brought transformational shifts in healthcare, and created significant implications for nurse leaders. Specifically, AI has major indications in the area of evidence-based practice.

Design: This study used a mixed-methods approach with an explanatory design.
Methods: Participants were recruited from a community health course.
B cells can differentiate into plasmablast and plasma cells, capable of producing antibodies for decades. Gene editing using zinc-finger nucleases (ZFN) enables the engineering of B cells capable of secreting sustained and high levels of therapeutic proteins. In this study, we established an advanced good manufacturing practice-compatible culturing system characterized by robust and consistent expansion rate, high viability, and efficient B cell differentiation.

Given the complexities of modern nursing practice in an aging America, clinical educators must teach nursing students to reason when engaging in patient care. Contemporary pedagogy to enhance reasoning relies on case studies and simulation.

Despite some treatment successes in early-stage localized TNBC, the rate of distant recurrence remains high, and long-term survival outcomes remain poor. In a search for new therapeutic targets for this disease, we observed that elevated expression of the serine/threonine kinase calcium/calmodulin (CaM)-dependent protein kinase kinase 2 (CaMKK2) is highly correlated with tumor invasiveness.

Here, we describe DCFHP, a ferritin-based, protein-nanoparticle vaccine candidate that, when formulated with aluminum hydroxide as the sole adjuvant (DCFHP-alum), elicits potent and durable neutralizing antisera in non-human primates against known VOCs, including Omicron BQ.1, as well as against SARS-CoV-1.

Similar inequities are seen in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) mortality rates. In response, we sought to explore the intersections of racism and the COVID-19 pandemic impact on the daily lives and perinatal care experiences of Black birthing people.

Progress will depend on future advances in prophylactic vaccine activity, including advancement of candidates capable of generating more potent induction of cross-reactive T cells and durable cross-reactive antibody responses. Here we evaluated an Amphiphile (AMP) adjuvant, AMP-CpG, admixed with SARS-CoV-2 Spike receptor binding domain (RBD) immunogen, as a lymph node-targeted protein subunit vaccine (ELI-005) in mice and non-human primates (NHPs).

While psychosocial stress is a significant predictor of adverse birth outcomes, social support can reduce stress levels during pregnancy. SIB also spontaneously occurs in a low percentage of captive monkeys. Rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta) monkeys are evolutionarily and physiologically similar to humans, share 93% genetic sequence similarity to humans, and have long been used as testing subjects for vaccine and clinical trials.
