Methods: This was a prospective multicentre study of adult IPD involving six hospitals.
Purpose: To evaluate the incidence and mortality of adult patients with community-acquired septic shock (CASS) and the influence of source control (SC) and other risk factors on the outcome.
Material And Methods: The study included patients with CASS admitted to the ICU at a university hospital (2003-2016). Multivariate analyses were performed to identify risk factors of ICU mortality.
We report a case of bloodstream infection with the anaerobic bacterium Ruminococcus gnavus (R. gnavus), associated with intestinal perforation in a patient undergoing chemotherapy for multiple myeloma and cancer of the sigmoid colon. Gram staining of positive anaerobic blood cultures revealed both diplococci and short chains of gram-positive cocci.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of episodes of SCAP, and assessed the epidemiology, etiology, treatment and outcomes of patients admitted to the ICU, comparing three periods (1999-2003, 2004-2008 and 2009-2013).
Results: A total of 458 patients were diagnosed with SCAP.
