Background: Bone metastasis is a significant concern in advanced solid tumors, contributing to diminished patient survival and quality of life due to skeletal-related events (SREs). Denosumab (DMAB), a monoclonal antibody targeting the receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL), is used to prevent SREs in such cases. The RANK/RANKL axis, crucial in immunological processes, has garnered attention, especially with the expanding use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) in modern oncology.

Purpose: The management of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) requires multidisciplinary boards to handle complex cases. This study aimed to examine the evolving practices of the IMMUCARE board and to evaluate its impact on clinical practices.

Materials And Methods: The IMMUCARE board gathers oncologists and organ specialists from the Cancerology Institute of the Lyon University Hospital since 2018.

Article Synopsis
  • Older COVID-19 patients, particularly those over 60 with comorbidities and frailty, face higher risks of mortality; thus, care limitations may be necessary for those with severe pneumonia and poor prognosis.
  • This study evaluated the outcomes of these patients treated with high flow nasal oxygen (HFNO) outside of ICU settings, aiming to assess survival rates and identify factors influencing HFNO success or failure.
  • Results indicated that 73% of the 56 patients studied died within 30 days; HFNO failed in 66% of cases, with certain clinical signs before treatment linked to higher mortality rates.

Background: Lung cancer in women is on the rise, with a higher proportion occurring in lifelong never-smokers. Lung cancer in never-smokers (LCINS) exhibits a high frequency of driver oncogene alterations. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether exposure to reproductive factors in women with LCINS may modulate the molecular pattern.

Purpose: Second-line chemotherapy regimens have demonstrated poor benefit after failure of platinum-based chemotherapy in advanced non-squamous non-small-cell lung cancer (nsNSCLC).

Methods: In this multicentre, open-label phase III trial, patients with advanced nsNSCLC treated with one or two prior lines, including one platinum-based doublet, were centrally randomised to receive 90 mg/m of paclitaxel (D1, D8, D15) plus 10 mg/kg of bevacizumab (D1, D15) every 28 days or docetaxel (75 mg/m) every 21 days; crossover was allowed after disease progression. Primary end-point was progression-free survival (PFS).

To assess how physicians and surgeons carried out malnutrition screening and follow-up for patients with lung cancer. We carried out an expert opinion survey in France using an anonymous self-administered online questionnaire. In 2017, 206 practitioners responded, of which 60.

Introduction: CT-guided transthoracic core-needle biopsy (TTNB) is frequently used for the diagnosis of lung nodules. The aim of this study is to describe TTNBs' complications and to investigate predictive factors of complications.

Methods: All consecutive TTNBs performed in three centers between 2006 and 2012 were included.

TPF (docetaxel, cisplatin, fluorouracil) is the standard chemotherapy used for induction in locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (LAHNSCC). Its toxicity limits it to younger patients with good functional status and without significant comorbidity. Since modified TPF (mTPF) demonstrated higher tolerability with similar efficacy in gastric cancer, we tested this scheme on frail patients.

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a disease affecting a lot of organs. One of the little known diabetes complication is impairment of pulmonary function. The aim of this study was to compare pulmonary function in two groups: diabetic individuals and obese non-diabetic individuals and to investigate predictive factors of alteration of diffusing capacity of lung for carbon monoxide (DLCO).

Background: Specimens collected by CT scan-guided transthoracic core-needle biopsy (TTNB) are frequently used for the diagnosis of lung nodules, but the clinical value of negative results has not been sufficiently investigated. We sought to determine the negative predictive value (NPV) of TTNB specimens and investigate predictive factors of negative results.

Methods: All consecutive TTNBs performed in three centers between 2006 and 2012 were included.
