Gestational age at birth is a critical factor for perinatal and adulthood outcomes, and even for transgenerational conditions' effects. Preterm birth (PTB) (prematurity) is still the main determinant for infant mortality and morbidity leading cause of infant morbidity and mortality. Unfortunately, preterm birth (PTB) is a relevant public health issue worldwide and the global PTB rate is around 11%.

The arr gene was initially identified on the Mycolicibacterium smegmatis chromosome and later on Proteobacteria plasmids. This scenario raised concerns on the distribution and spread of arr, considering the Bacteria domain.

Locally run systems often deal with highly diverse native-vector faunas-plus, in some areas, domestic populations of non-native species. Flexible entomological-risk indicators that cover native and non-native vectors and can support local decision-making are therefore needed.

Brush or flat anodes were chemically treated and then compared in identical two-chambered MFCs using the electrode potential slope (EPS) analysis to quantify the anode resistances. Flat carbon cloth anodes modified with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) produced 1.

Since plaque formation can precede extensive neurodegeneration and it is the main clinical manifestation of AD, it constitutes a relevant target for new treatment and diagnostic approaches. Micro-Raman spectroscopy, a label-free technique, is an accurate method for amyloid plaque identification and characterization.

Twenty specimens were prepared and distributed into two groups: group 1 with ten analogs for morse cone type implant, and group 2 with ten morse type implants, size 4.3 × 15 cm.

Macrophages are key cells in the immune inflammatory response that can be differentiated into M1 and M2 phenotypes. Polarization has a critical therapeutic value, especially in diseases in which an M1/M2 imbalance plays a pathophysiological role. Raman spectroscopy has proven to be a promising bioanalytical technique for discriminating different cell types.

Upper endoscopy revealed multiple small (1 to 5 mm), whitish polypoid lesions, involving a discrete portion of the descending part of the duodenum with 3 cm extension.

When it comes to visceral leishmaniasis (VL) in Brazil, one of the main targets of public health policies of surveillance is the control of domestic canine reservoirs of Leishmania infantum. This paper aims to evaluate the effect of the dog population and household environment for the maintenance of natural foci in the transmission to human and animal hosts in an endemic city for VL, Bauru, in Brazil. We collected 6,578 blood samples of dogs living in 3,916 households from Nov.

Co-epidemics of COVID-19 and dengue in dengue-endemic countries represent a serious public health concern. In Brazil, São Paulo state ranks first for cases and deaths from COVID-19, and dengue is endemic in most regions of the country. In 2020, an outbreak of dengue occurred in western São Paulo.

Mussels from an aquaculture farm and transplanted into the estuary, whereas oysters were collected in situ in the same area. Concentrations of Al, Mn, Fe, Cr and As were higher in P.

However, the high heterogeneity regarding presentation and progression and the increasingly broad therapeutic landscape suggest a complex real-world scenario, leading to multiple trajectories of AD patients.
Methods: Using a Delphi methodology for assessing the degree of consensus, we explored the views of a panel of dermatologists regarding the patients' trajectory through the diagnosis (block 1), treatment (block 2), and long-term management (block 3) of AD.
Background: The impact of the COVID pandemic on liver transplant (LT) programs varied among countries. Few data are available about that impact in pediatric liver transplant (PLT) programs. This study aimed at comparing the data of our program in Brazil (2019 vs.

However, despite technical advances, radiotherapy can alter previously normal organs and tissues, those alterations presenting as various types of imaging findings. Post-radiation alterations must be promptly recognized by radiologists, in order to avoid confusion between complications of radiotherapy and the recurrence of a tumor.

After passing through them, the light acquires a random phase, masking or destroying associated information. Filtering this random phase is of paramount importance to many applications, such as sensing, imaging, and optical communication, to cite a few, and it is commonly achieved through computationally extensive post-processing using statistical correlation.

Nevertheless, the interplay between these factors has not been studied thus far. Hence, we conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study aimed to explore how unprovoked epileptic seizures along with vascular-related factors contribute to neurocognitive impairments in patients with cerebral small vessel disease.

Methods: Secondary data from a national external evaluation of PHC conducted in 2017 and 2018 were analyzed. The construction of the score used 14 variables, divided into the following: structural characteristics of the PHC, infection control equipment under conditions of use, and biosafety supplies in sufficient quantity.
Specific anti-tumor immune responses have proven to be pivotal in shaping tumorigenesis and tumor progression in solid cancers. These responses can also be of an autoimmune nature, and autoantibodies can sometimes be present even before the onset of clinically overt disease. Autoantibodies can be generated due to mutated gene products, aberrant expression and post-transcriptional modification of proteins, a pro-immunogenic milieu, anti-cancer treatments, cross-reactivity of tumor-specific lymphocytes, epitope spreading, and microbiota-related and genetic factors.

Urolithin A (UA) is a natural metabolite with pro-apoptotic and antioxidant effects, capable of preventing the accumulation of dysfunctional mitochondria in different aged cells. UA has never been tested in bovine oocytes.
