Unlabelled: Bombesin receptors on the cell surface are of great interest as a target for targeted cancer therapy. One of the strategies of targeting bombesin receptors involves the use of tropic short peptides. However, the main limitation for the wide application of peptides as drugs is their low stability due to their sensitivity to extreme conditions of the internal body environment such as temperature and action of enzymes.

Mesoporous hydroxyapatite (HA) is widely used in various applications, such as the biomedical field, as a catalytic, as a sensor, and many others. The aim of this work was to obtain HA powders by means of chemical precipitation in a medium containing a polymer-polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-with concentrations ranging from 0 to 10%. The HA powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, atomic emission spectroscopy with inductively coupled plasma, electron paramagnetic resonance, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

Objective: In our study, we propose the use of peptide toxins, derived from animal and plant toxins, as scaffold molecules to enhance the bioavailability and stability of bombesin.
Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a common phenomenon that develops both from natural causes and during major operations. Many intracellular processes mediated by calcium ions are involved in the development of IRI. Currently, chemical calcium channel blockers are used but they have a number of limitations.

The development of pathological conditions is preceded by intracellular calcium ion overload both at the stage of ischemia and at the stage of reperfusion. In this regard, one of the strategies aimed at reducing damage during ischemia/reperfusion is associated with the use of calcium channel blockers.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA simple technique for observing optically stimulated electron paramagnetic resonance (OSEPR) is proposed and investigated. The versatility and information content of the described technique is demonstrated by the example of the OSEPR spectra of systems that are unpopular for this type of spectroscopy: a crystal with rare-earth ions Nd and a doped semiconductor GaAs. In addition, the OSEPR spectrum of atomic cesium is presented, in which an optical nonlinearity is observed that makes it possible to estimate the Rabi frequency for the relevant optical transition.

Restoration of normal oxygen concentration exacerbates the emergence and development of deadly cells. One of the possible moments of reperfusion damage to cells is an increase in the intracellular concentration of sodium ions.

Hence, it is necessary to conduct an additional thorough examination using optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the vitreoretinal interface periphery in the presence of tear predictors: retinal and vitreal hemorrhages, vitreous pigment cells ("tobacco dust") in the anterior segment of the vitreous body, as well as hyper-reflective dots ("starry sky") in the vitreous body according to OCT scans of patients with acute symptomatic detachment of the hyaloid membrane. The article presents the case of a patient with a clinically imperceptible flap tear detected during acute posterior vitreous detachment.

The present research demonstrates the possibility of the enlargement of the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller specific surface area (SSA), pore volume, and average pore diameter via changing the synthesis medium and ripening the material in the mother solution after the precipitation processes have been completed. HA powders were investigated via chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier-transform IR spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and scanning (SEM) electron microscopy.

Thus, they are useful parameters for diagnosing various forms of neuropathy and functional circulatory disorders. Both parameters affect the dynamics of the skin temperature; therefore, for an adequate description of thermographic data, it is necessary to build models that consider both these coexisting components simultaneously.
