Autoclave leaching of sulfide concentrates may produce various ferric secondary phases, depending on the arsenic content and temperature. Silver is converted to argentojarosite, from which it is not recoverable by standard cyanidation methods. To increase silver recovery, it is necessary to reduce the argentojarosite formation during autoclave leaching.

Odontoma make up about 22% of all odontogenic tumors. Diagnosis and treatment of odontoma in children has a number of features: the variability of the clinical and X-ray picture, the appearance of signs during the period of changing teeth, retention or the difficulty of the eruption of complete teeth in the affected area. In the process of growth odontoma can cause significant deformation of the jaw bones.

Small intestinal injury is known to be one of the most commonly appearing pathologies, resulting in the use of medications such as: nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), antitumor drugs and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. The principal objective of this study is to evaluate the action of a novel mercaptoacrylic acid derivative able to release H₂S on parameters of NO-synthase system and oxidative stress. Inducing enteropathy, three types of medications were used: indomethacin, an NSAID (35 mg/kg); methotrexate, an antitumor drug (10 mg/kg); and enalapril, an ACE inhibitor (2 mg/kg/day).

Stress and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which act as nonselective inhibitors of cyclooxygenase, are the main factors of ulcerogenesis in digestive system. However, the peculiarities of their combined action upon the status of intestinal microflora and the parameters of NO-synthase system are still poorly understood. In experiments with rats we show that water-restrained stress was accompanied by a considerable increase of iNOS activity and intensity of lipoperoxidation processes.

Mechanisms of gastric defence under conditions of combined influence of acute stress and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are still poorly studied. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of different types of NSAIDs (naproxen, celecoxib and ATB-346) in producing experimental gastric lesions (induced by water-restraint stress (WRS) or by epinephrine (EPN) injection) and to determine the role of lipid peroxidation and the nitric oxide (NO) system in the pathogenesis of the damage. Male rats were used (eight per group) in this work.

In experiments on rats with modeled water-restrained stress, the influence of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs of different genesis on morphological status of gastric mucosa and changes of NO-synthase system parameters have been studied Administration of nonselective cyclooxygenese inhibitor naproxen in the water-restrained stress model in rats potentiated the increase of severity of damage of gastric mucosa. At the same time, the activity of both inducible and constitutive isoforms ofNO-sythase decreased. The parameters of lipoperoxidation remained at the level observed during water-restrained stress.

Effective analysis of high throughput screening (HTS) data requires automation of dose-response curve fitting for large numbers of datasets. Datasets with outliers are not handled well by standard non-linear least squares methods, and manual outlier removal after visual inspection is tedious and potentially biased. We propose robust non-linear regression via M-estimation as a statistical technique for automated implementation.

Urgent intraoperative investigation allows a surgeon, depending on the morphological conclusion, to conduct individual surgical intervention in the form of anastomosis with penetration into the tissue of the pancreas. The method decreases the rate of surgical complications, improves immediate results of patient treatment and reduces postoperative lethality. This proves the importance of morphology in the surgical treatment of tumours in the zone concerned.

Glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) from rumen mucosa of cow fetus, liver and two forms from mucosa (bacterial and tissue) of the adult animal were partly purified and characterized. The activity of the bacterial glutamate dehydrogenase was shown to depend on qualities of a biomass of microbes, adhered on surface of rumen mucosa. All enzymes from tissues (GDHTRF, TRC, TLC), revealed the hypersensibility to increase in the concentration medium of Zn2+, guanosine triphosphate (GTP), acting here in a role of negative modulators, and also adenosine monophosphate (AMP) and leucine, which acted as activators.
