Introduction: Exercise physiology investigates the complex and multifaceted human body responses to physical activity (PA). The integration of electrical bioimpedance (EBI) has emerged as a valuable tool for deepening our understanding of muscle activity during exercise.
Method: In this study, we investigate the potential of using the EBI technique for human motion recognition.
The ubiquity of sensors in smart-homes facilitates the support of independent living for older adults and enables cognitive assessment. Notably, there has been a growing interest in utilizing movement traces for identifying signs of cognitive impairment in recent years. In this study, we introduce an innovative approach to identify abnormal indoor movement patterns that may signal cognitive decline.

Earlier work has shown that the IngVaL pedobarography system can estimate walking speed during indoor walking using only three forefoot sensors. Objectives: Walking speed is an important component of movement and is a predictor of health in the elderly. Pedobarography, the study of forces acting between the plantar surface of the foot and a supporting surface, is an approach to estimating walking speed even when no global positioning system signal is available. The developed portable system, Identifying Velocity and Load (IngVaL), is a cost effective alternative to commercially available pedobarography systems because it only uses three force sensing resistors.

We compared 3-gradient direction DWI (3DWI) and 20-gradient direction DWI (20DWI) standard vendor protocols in a hospital-based prospective cohort of patients with transient ischemic attack (TIA) for lesion detection, lesion brightness, predictability of persisting infarction, and final infarct size.
Methods: We performed 3T-magnetic resonance imaging including diffusion and T2-fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) within 72 h and 8 weeks after ictus.

The aim of this pilot study was to investigate the possibility to find a correlation between the output from a portable pedobarography system and the walking intensity expressed as walking speed. The system uses shoe insoles with force sensing resistors and wireless transmission of the data via Bluetooth. The force-time integral, at the toe-off phase of the step, for the force sensors in the forward part of the right foot was used to measure impulse data for 10 subjects performing walks in three different walking speeds.

Design: A test protocol for the evaluation of technical modifications of continuous ECG recordings was tested in 17 patients. The programme comprised ECG recordings during five artefact-provoking manoeuvres (slight shaking of the ECG cables, rotating shoulders, slight electrode touching, washing, teeth-brushing) and two simple artefact-preventing manoeuvres (taping ECG cables and covering electrodes with paper cups).

Comparative provocation tests were performed on volunteers at the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit at Västerås Central Hospital.
Methods: The experimental tests involved 10 healthy, voluntary test subjects, instructed to intersperse normal breathing with protocol provocations of breath holding, limb and head movements, and nasal oxygen supplement.
Preoperative bone scintigraphy of the femoral head in 33 hips with slipped capital femoral epiphysis, showed no relation to duration of symptoms or degree of slip. The preoperative uptake was always normal or increased. Two hips had postoperative femoral head uptake below normal, both had complications affecting the vascular supply, resulting in necrosis of the femoral head and severe arthrosis.
