Unlabelled: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) remains a critical health concern, where prompt access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs) significantly improves survival. This scoping review broadly investigates the feasibility and impact of dronedelivered AEDs for OHCA response.
Methods: PubMed, Cochrane, and Web of Science were searched from inception to August 6, 2024, with eligibility broadly including empirical data.
Identifying frequent users of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the post-discharge period can potentially direct interventions to prevent deterioration at home. This study aimed to describe the frequency of post-discharge emergency phone calls within 30 days after common medical and surgical categories of hospital admission. A retrospective cohort study retrieved data from the electronic medical record and the EMS Capital Region Denmark database after approval by the Danish Health Data Authority.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Rapid recognition of pediatric out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (POHCA) is a critical component to prompt initiation of bystander interventions. We aimed to investigate barriers for responding to POHCA during emergency medical calls.
Methods And Results: We included all POHCA calls (aged 0-18 years) from the emergency dispatch center in the Capital Region of Denmark between 2018 and 2021 and excluded POHCAs with no resuscitation order, found dead, where trained health professionals were on site, or where there was no possibility for initiation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Background: The guidelines for Advanced Life Support issued by the European Resuscitation Council recommend considering drug delivery through intraosseous access if intravenous access to the vascular bed is not feasible or unsuccessful. Emergency prehospital intraosseous cannulation may theoretically lead to an increased risk of long-term complications such as osteomyelitis, osteonecrosis, or compartment syndrome. Such complications have previously been reported in case reports or small sample case series.

We investigated whether GLP-1 RA use reduce OHCA risk in type 2 diabetes when compared to dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor (DPP-4i) use.
Methods: We identified all patients having a redeemed prescription of a glucose-lowering drug between 1995 and 2019 and excluded patients with a first-time redeemed prescription consisting of insulin.

Methods And Results: We geocoded public out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs) (2016-2020), automated external defibrillators, and train stations. The stations were divided into the following groups according to passenger flow: 1 (0-499), 2 (500-4999), 3 (5000-9999), and 4 (>10 000) passengers per day.
Background: Chest pain is a frequent cause of health care contacts. We examined the prehospital management, in-hospital discharge diagnoses, and mortality of patients calling a non-emergency and emergency medical service with chest pain.
Methods: The Copenhagen Emergency Medical Services (EMS) consists of a non-emergency medical helpline (calls to 1813) and emergency medical service (1-1-2 calls).
Background: Ongoing opioid treatment can potentially modify symptoms of myocardial infarction (MI) and cause a lack of recognition and treatment delay.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine MI symptoms and the time to hospitalization for patients in ongoing opioid treatment compared to patients without ongoing opioid treatment.

Methods: We followed 2,452 Danish (530 women and 1,922 men) and 1,255 Dutch (259 women and 996 men) individuals aged ≥25 years, who survived 30 days post-OHCA in 2009-2015, until 2019. Using Poisson regression analyses we assessed sex differences in long-term survival and sex-specific associations of characteristics mutually adjusted, and compared survival with an age- and sex-matched general population.

Background: Pilot Peer Support Programs (PPSP) have been introduced in Europe as a measure to facilitate commercial pilots' mental health help-seeking in a confidential and non-punitive manner. However, research is scarce regarding what promotes and prevents pilots from approaching PPSP.
Aims: To investigate if, and in which way, different organizational and individual factors are associated with pilots' attitudes towards approaching PPSP, and to examine the prevalence of possible cases of depression and anxiety disorders among commercial pilots in Europe.
Background: Strategies to reach out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (called cardiac arrest) in residential areas and reduce disparities in care and outcomes are warranted. This study investigated incidences of cardiac arrests in public housing areas.
Methods: This register-based cohort study included cardiac arrest patients from Amsterdam (the Netherlands) from 2016 to 2021, Copenhagen (Denmark) from 2016 to 2021, and Vienna (Austria) from 2018 to 2021.
This study used demographic data in a novel prediction model to identify areas with high risk of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in order to target prehospital preparedness. We combined data from the nationwide Danish Cardiac Arrest Registry with geographical- and demographic data on a hectare level.
