Purpose: COVID-19 profoundly affected the United States, with New York City rapidly becoming the epicenter of the disease. Patients with cancer represent a vulnerable population in this pandemic, with data suggesting a higher risk for severe events and unfavorable outcomes. Timely identification of COVID-19 in patients with cancer has been thwarted by the limited availability of outpatient testing for SARS-CoV-2.

Purpose: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by a novel strain of coronavirus named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that has quickly spread around the globe. Health care facilities in the USA currently do not have an adequate supply of COVID-19 tests to meet the growing demand. Objective: The goal of this study was to identify new MR criteria and review established MR criteria for the diagnosis of placenta accreta. MR images of all patients presenting to our department for evaluation of placenta accreta over the previous 5 years were reviewed and findings were correlated with surgical pathology.

Conclusion: We found the most sensitive MR criteria for the diagnosis of invasive placentation to be abnormal placental vascularity in addition to the previously described intraplacental T2 dark bands.

In an effort to explore alternatives to contrast arteriography, we compared computed tomography angiography to contrast arteriography for defining anatomic features of patients undergoing lower extremity revascularization. From November 2003 to March 2004, 36 inpatients with chronic lower extremity ischemia underwent contrast arteriography and computed tomography angiography before undergoing lower extremity revascularization procedures. A Siemens 16 slice multiplanar computed tomography device with bolus tracking was used for these exams.

Image subtraction in gadolinium-enhanced MR imaging is a broadly applicable postprocessing technique that can be used with any field strength and T1-weighted sequence. This technique is typically a quick and efficient means of obtaining fat suppression that avoids the limitations of incomplete fat saturation due to field inhomogeneity and increased imaging times associated with conventional fat-suppression techniques. In particular, image subtraction may be valuable on lower strength magnetic field systems that lack effective chemical-shift fat-suppression techniques.

We report four sickle cell anemia patients who have received multiple blood transfusions and have been non-compliant on Desferal chelation therapy. Abdominal ultrasonography demonstrated an echogenic pancreas in all four patients. Magnetic resonance imaging in three patients revealed decreased signal intensity in all sequences in the pancreas and liver.
