Objective: To explore the experiences of people having cfDNA screening to detect unbalanced translocations, and to understand motivations for choosing this option.
Methods: We used a qualitative approach with in-depth semi-structured interviews with reciprocal translocation carriers and their partners. People who underwent cfDNA screening with translocation analysis through Victorian Clinical Genetics Services between 2015 and 2019 were invited to take part.
Objectives: Studies on oral processing are often snapshots of behaviors that examine feeding through individual bouts. In this study, we expand on our previous work comparing bite/chew variables per feeding bout to summed daily biting, chewing, and food intake to interpret loading that could have potential morphological effects.
Materials And Methods: We observed sympatric Lemur catta and Propithecus verreauxi over two field seasons in the dry forest of Bezà Mahafaly Special Reserve in southwestern Madagascar.

Purpose: Pharmacy chains can differ with respect to the characteristics of their patient populations as well as their nonprescription products, services, and practices, and thus may serve as a surrogate for potential unmeasured confounding in observational studies of prescription drugs. This study evaluates whether a single-source drug can have different patient outcomes based on the dispensing pharmacy chain.
Methods: Separate analyses for two anticoagulant drugs, rivaroxaban and apixaban, were conducted using Medicare Fee-for-Service claims evaluating the association between dispensing pharmacy chain and outcomes of acute myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, all-cause mortality, and major GI bleeding.
Background: Sexual violence (SV) is a significant, global public health problem, particularly among young adults. Promising interventions exist, including prosocial bystander intervention programs that train bystanders to intervene in situations at-risk for SV. However, these programs suffer from critical weaknesses: (1) they do not address the proximal effect of alcohol use on bystander decision-making and (2) they rely on self-report measures to evaluate outcomes.

We investigated how food mechanical properties (FMPs) and food geometry affect feeding behaviors and subsequent jaw loading. We compared oral processing in two sympatric lemur species with distinct diets and mandibular morphologies.

Participants detailed how delay in diagnosis, lack of provider knowledge, inadequate pain management, poor access to care and stigmatization negatively affected their interactions with the healthcare system. Improving disease knowledge among providers, proactively addressing HS-related pain and coordinating access to multidisciplinary care may improve healthcare experiences among individuals living with HS.

We report data from repeat testing for women in maternal and child health (MCH) services at 10 health facilities in Mozambique.
Methods: Routinely collected data from health facility registers are reported from April-November 2019.
Introduction: Pregnant and lactating people (PLP) experience heightened risk of acquiring HIV, which adversely impacts their health and increases the risk for vertical HIV transmission. Preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP), as part of a combination prevention package, including condoms, sexually transmitted infection prevention, and regular HIV testing, is a safe, efficacious method to prevent HIV infections among PLP and their infants. This article examines the evolution of strategies and guidance on PrEP services for PLP from 18 countries supported by the U.

HS therapies are often insufficient to control inflammatory disease activity and pain. A better understanding of patient experiences with pain may improve patient-provider relationships and help identify strategies for addressing HS pain.

Method: A single-center prenatal cfDNA screening test was employed to detect trisomies 21, 18, and 13 (T21, T18, T13) and sex chromosome aneuploidies (SCAs). Test performance, choice of prenatal procedure, and cytogenetic results in pregnancies with low-risk cfDNA screening were reviewed.
Background: Research is sparse on the community-level impacts of home visiting programs on child maltreatment.
Objective: To examine community-level associations between state-funded home visiting programs (i.e.
Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is a screening test for fetal chromosomal aneuploidy using cell-free DNA derived from maternal blood. It has been rapidly accepted into obstetric practice because of its application from 10-weeks' gestation, and its high sensitivity and specificity. NIPT results can be influenced by several factors including placental or maternal mosaicism and co-twin demise; cell-free DNA from a maternal origin can also complicate interpretation, with evidence that NIPT can detect previously unsuspected malignancies.

Electronic health record data from 13 clinics were accessed for February of 2017, 2018, and 2019 to calculate screening rates and positive screening rates for intimate partner violence by clinic and sex-race groups (n = 11,693 non-Hispanic White females; n = 4318 Other females; n = 9184 non-Hispanic White males; n = 3441 Other males). Linear mixed effects models were used to examine whether screening rates differed significantly over time and by sex-race group.

We examined the performance of a paired-end sequencing-based NIPT in the detection of genome-wide fetal chromosomal anomalies including common trisomies, sex chromosomal aneuploidies (SCA), rare autosomal aneuploidies (RAAs), and partial deletions/duplications ≥7 Mb.
Methods: Frozen plasma samples from pregnant women were tested using the VeriSeq NIPT Solution v2 assay.
Introduction: Voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC), an effective HIV prevention programme for men, is implemented in East and Southern Africa. Approximately 50% of VMMC clients are aged below 15 years. More targeted interventions to reach older men and others at higher short-term HIV risk are needed.

The alternation of progressively longer dry and wet extremes could increasingly select for species with a broad environmental tolerance. As a consequence, biodiversity may decline.

Healthcare settings are important intervention points for IPV screening and referral, yet there is a wide range of implementation of IPV protocols in healthcare settings in the U.S.

We describe the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) prevalence and associated symptoms, and review shelter infection prevention and control (IPC) policies.
Methods: PEH and staff were tested for SARS-CoV-2 by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) during 7 April-6 May 2020.
Purpose: Balanced reciprocal translocation carriers are at increased risk of producing gametes with unbalanced forms of the translocation leading to miscarriage, fetal anomalies, and birth defects. We sought to determine if genome-wide cell-free DNA based noninvasive prenatal screening (gw-NIPS) could provide an alternative to prenatal diagnosis for carriers of these chromosomal rearrangements.
Methods: This pilot series comprises a retrospective analysis of gw-NIPS and clinical outcome data from 42 singleton pregnancies where one parent carried a balanced reciprocal translocation.
