- A study was conducted on 81 patients who had TBLCs, with subsequent SLBs performed for uncertain diagnoses or if a nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP) pattern was observed, revealing that SLBs provided more specific histological diagnoses.
- The findings suggest that while TBLCs are valuable, SLBs are essential for obtaining critical additional diagnostic information when TBLCs yield inconclusive results or indicate an NSIP pattern, highlighting their importance in complex cases.
