Objective: To identify the characteristics of the published studies on social inequalities in under-five mortality, their theoretical perspectives, axes of inequality, methods and results.
Method: We carried out a systematic literature review. We consulted four electronic databases and Google Scholar, for studies published between 2010 and 2018.
Objective: To determine the proportion of potentially avoidable deaths in children under five in Colombia, by department and municipality of residence, during the period from 2000 through 2018.
Methods: A multi-group and longitudinal ecological study was conducted in 33 departments and 1 118 municipalities over a period of 19 years. The deaths were classified as probably unavoidable or avoidable; the latter were then identified as treatable, preventable, or mixed; and a proportion was calculated relative to the total.
Background: Eye injury is a serious worldwide public health problem that may cause blindness. In children, blindness has functional impact and psychosocial implications. As indicated in many worldwide studies, identification of risk factors associated with the socio-cultural context may prevent eye injuries.

Colombia lacks a specific inventory that allows estimating the magnitude, distribution, and evolution of avoidable childhood mortality. The study thus aimed to propose a list of potentially avoidable causes of death in children under five years of age in Colombia.

Objective: To determine the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in the general population from the urban area of Bucaramanga.
Materials And Method: Cross-sectional survey conducted between September and November 2013. The SF-36 questionnaire was applied to measure HRQoL in the general population of four neighborhoods selected for convenience.
Objective: Dengue is a public health problem; community individual empowerment must be ascertained regarding prevention and control measures.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was applied which enquired about empowerment in three areas having high dengue incidence in Bucaramanga, Colombia, during 2008. The survey was subjected to face validity, content and test reproducibility.
Introduction: Dengue is a public health problem. However, the efficacy of typical control programs is not well-established.
Objective: The efficacy of social mobilization was assessed for its role in public empowerment in the improvement of dengue control measures.

Objective: Evaluating the effectiveness of primary-school children's play-based education for improving knowledge about Dengue prevention, control and practice.
Methods: This was a before-after type intervention study which was carried out in Bucaramanga between July and November 2009. A group of leading primary-school children received play-based education about Dengue and leadership after they had been surveyed regarding their knowledge about dengue control practices.
Objective: Identifying knowledge, attitudes and practice regarding dengue control for guiding prevention and control measures.
Methods: A community survey was carried out using house inspection visits during May 2007 in two neighbourhoods in Bucaramanga having a high incidence of dengue. Mosquito breeding places were identified and education concerning dengue prevention and control measures was provided.

Objective: The present study was aimed at establishing delay in diagnosing tuberculosis and associated factors.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. Adults from the city of Bucaramanga proving smear-positive for tuberculosis were interviewed for establishing demographic and social variables; the onset of symptoms, the date of their first visit to a doctor and time of diagnosis were established.
