Thalamocortical (TC) circuits are essential for sensory information processing. Clinical and preclinical studies of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) have highlighted abnormal thalamic development and TC circuit dysfunction. However, mechanistic understanding of how TC dysfunction contributes to behavioral abnormalities in ASDs is limited.

Four groups ( = 40) of white CBA line male mice weighing 20-25 g were involved in the experiment: (1) intact control; (2) introduction of a 0.9% sodium-chloride solution orally for 10 days, a dose of 10 mL/kg per day; (3) "cisplatin" group (animals received 0.

However, ATN circuits that contribute to higher cognitive functions remain understudied. We found that the anteroventral (AV) subdivision of ATN is necessary specifically during the maintenance phase of a spatial working memory task.

Recent progress in elucidating the genetic architecture of schizophrenia has highlighted the association of multiple loci and rare variants that may impact susceptibility. One key example, given their potential etiopathogenic and therapeutic relevance, is a set of genes that encode proteins that regulate excitatory glutamatergic synapses in brain.

The peptide was administered intraperitoneally in a dose of 1 mg/kg in 3 h and on days 2, 3, 4, 5 after injury. We evaluated morphometric parameters of the epithelial cells of the tongue, small intestine, and liver cells (AgNOR staining), neuronal layers II and V of the neocortex of the parietal lobe and hippocampal CA1 field (staining with gallocyanin) were evaluated in the post-traumatic period.

Recent exome sequencing studies of SCZ have uncovered numerous single-nucleotide variants (SNVs); however, the majority of these SNVs have unknown functional consequences, leaving their disease relevance uncertain. Filling this knowledge gap requires systematic application of quantitative and scalable assays to assess known and novel biological functions of genes.

Under physiological conditions, the peptides had no effect on parameters of cell division. Hydrogen peroxide induced intensive oxidative stress accompanied by suppression of protein-synthesizing function.

Both peptides induced a reduction of free radical oxidation activity, which was shown by chemiluminescence. Indomethacin induced lesions in the gastric mucosa, triggered oxidative stress, and reduced proliferative activity.

Despite evidence for high heritability of BD, little is known about its underlying pathophysiology. To develop new tools for investigating the molecular and cellular basis of BD, we applied a family-based paradigm to derive and characterize a set of 12 induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines from a quartet consisting of two BD-affected brothers and their two unaffected parents.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFActivation of proliferative processes (Ki-67 proliferation index) and local oxidative stress was found in biopsy material from the mucosa of the large intestine of patients at the early stages of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome on days 5-10 after disease onset. Analysis of data of rectosigmoidoscopy and clinical examination refl ected the presence of colitis. It can be suggested that activation of proliferation is typically associated with local oxidative stress during various pathological processes.

The most manifest diagnostically significant pathomorphological signs of lichen planus of the buccal mucosa are described: acanthosis, granulosis, parakeratosis, lymphocytic infiltration of the lamina propria, and edema. The most pronounced morphological changes and higher index of epitheliocyte proliferative activity (by expression of Ki-67) are characteristic of the erosive ulcerative form of the disease.

Crohn's disease is characterized by hyper-regenerative processes in the ileal mucosa. The labeling index (Ki-67 expression) in biopsy specimens from the intact ileal mucosa in patients with the irritable bowel syndrome (reference group) was 10.

Fivefold pretreatment with sedatin (100 microg/kg) decreased the area of indomethacin-induced ulcers and erosions, stimulated DNA synthesis, and reduced the severity of oxidative stress. Non-arginine dermorphin analogue did not stimulate DNA synthesis and had no effect on the degree of oxidative stress.

Indomethacin treatment was followed by severe injury to the gastric mucosa, decrease in proliferative activity of the epithelium, and stimulation of free-radical processes in gastric tissues. Dalargin significantly decreased the area of erosive and ulcerative lesions, had a normalizing effect on proliferation of epithelial cells, and reduced the degree of oxidative stress.

We studied delayed effects of sedatin (arginine-containing mu/delta-opioid receptor agonist) and its arginine-free analog on the ontogenetic development of fish. Fertilized eggs of the Amur sturgeon (Acipenser schrenckii) were treated with the peptides. The results indicate that sedatin increased activities of the antiradical and antioxidant defense systems, stimulated fry development by increasing body weight and length, and increased the number of nucleoli in the myocardium and liver of young fish.

However, potentially unstable plaque is characterized by a high lipid content rather than calcification, which may make detection using the calcium score difficult. To assess the prevalence and severity of atherosclerotic disease in patients without coronary calcification, we evaluated findings in patients with a normal calcium score undergoing coronary CT angiography (CTA).

3H-thymidine autoradiography and chemiluminescence study demonstrated pronounced effect of dalargin on the state of the gastric mucosa in albino rats. Dalargin stimulated DNA synthesis in the epithelium of the gastric mucosa and increased buffer capacity of its antiradical and antioxidant systems. Dalargin analogue not containing arginine ([D-Ala2]-leu-enkephalin) had little effect on these parameters.

The use of the above ACEIs promoted the normalization of proliferative processes in the epithelium of the gastric mucosa (GM) in patients with AH and concomitant chronic gastritis. This effect ofACEIs is not related to an antihypertensive effect since the antihypertensive agent amlodipine fails to exert such an effect on GM.
