With the aging of the population, it is necessary to implement prevention policies aimed at maintaining the elderly in good health and promoting their autonomy. Alcohol consumption is an avoidable risk factor in deteriorating health and loss of autonomy that can be addressed through targeted public health policies. We must consider both the long-term effects, by informing young people of the risks to their future health, and the deleterious short-term effects (accidents, falls) for older subjects.
