Knowledge, attitudes and practices of parents towards antibiotic use in rural communities in Peru: a cross-sectional multicentre study.

Background: The inappropriate use of antibiotics significantly contributes to the development of antibiotic resistance. There is limited information about the use of antibiotics among parents from rural areas in Peru. This study aimed to describe the knowledge, attitudes and practices towards antibiotics among parents of children < 5 years of age from rural communities in Peru; to explore the association between knowledge and attitudes towards antibiotics and to explore determinants of low knowledge and self-medicating his/her child with antibiotics.

[Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Pediatric Infections During Natural Disasters].

The objective of this review was to provide guidelines regarding the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the most common infectious diseases in children during natural disasters, including floods such as those that occurred in the summer of 2017 in Peru. This instrument should be used by physicians and health personnel working in primary health care. The management of diarrheal, respiratory, skin, and eye diseases, vector-transmitted diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, and Zika, and zoonoses such as leptospirosis is discussed.

[Preferences and satisfaction towards a screening program with self-administered human papilloma virus detection tests].

Cross-sectional study describing preferences and satisfaction towards a cervical cancer screening program with selfadministered rapid tests for the detection of human papillomavirus (HPV). Of 2 090 users picked by the program in Ventanilla Callao - Peru, 97 were randomly selected to be surveyed. In addition, interviews were conducted with women leaders of the community, in charge of providing the evidence.

A comparative study of the photophysical and phototoxic properties of octakis(decyloxy)phthalocyaninato zinc(II), incorporated in a hydrophilic polymer, in liposomes and in non-ionic micelles.

Factors such as charge, aggregation and lipophilicity influence photosensitiser localisation. The lipophilic octasubstituted sensitiser 2,3,9,10,16,17,23,24-octakis(decyloxy)phthalocyaninato zinc(II) was incorporated into liposomes of dimyristoyl-L-alpha-phosphatidylcholine (DMPC), non-ionic micelles of Tween 80 and the hydrosoluble polymer Solutol HS 15 in order to investigate how these different environments affect the photophysical properties and phototoxicity of the photosensitiser. Fluorescence quantum yields and singlet molecular oxygen generation are enhanced in the presence of Solutol HS 15.

Pharmacokinetic and tumour-photosensitizing properties of methoxyphenyl porphyrin derivative.

The photokilling activity of 5-[4-N-(2',6'-dinitro-4'-trifluoromethylphenyl) aminophenyl]-10,15,20-tris(2,4,6-trimethoxy phenyl) porphyrin (CF3) was evaluated on a Hep-2 human larynx-carcinoma cell line. An apoptotic mechanism of cell death was found at low irradiation doses. Pharmacokinetic and tumour-photosensitizing properties were studied in mice.
