Objective: We assessed the diagnostic performance of ultrasound two-dimensional shear wave elastography (US 2D-SWE) to predict clinically significant fibrosis (CSF) in patients with serologic iron overload (SIO) and the subgroup with histologic liver iron overload (LIO).
Methods: A single-center retrospective cross-sectional study of adults with SIO (serum ferritin ≥ 200 ng/mL in females and ≥ 300 ng/mL in males) and suspected chronic liver disease with nonfocal liver biopsy results and US 2D-SWE exams within 1 year was performed. Histopathological fibrosis stage ≥2 and liver iron ≥2+ was considered CSF and LIO, respectively.
This study evaluated how daily vitamin C administration impacts systemic oxidative stress and inflammation and its safety in T2D patients. This randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, parallel-arm clinical trial included 70 patients with T2D. They were allocated to receive either 500 mg/day of vitamin C or a matching placebo for 8 weeks.

Background And Aim: The role of lecithin: cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) and oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) in endometrial cancer (EC) or EC with concurrent type 2 diabetes is still unclear. This study investigated the LCAT activity, ox-LDL, and lipid profile in EC patients with or without type 2 diabetes and compared them with healthy individuals and patients with type 2 diabetes alone.
Methods: In this cross-sectional, case-control study, 93 female participants were recruited.

We investigate the role of Core needle biopsy (CNB) in the thyroid nodules lesions when FNA results are nondiagnostic. We conducted a cross-sectional study to evaluate twenty-six CNBs results of suspicious malignant thyroid nodules with nondiagnostic repeated fine needle aspiration.

We reviewed the clinical and radiologic features of GI ischemia and its related complications in thirty-one COVID-19 patients reported in literature.
Methods: A systematic literature review was performed using a search strategy on all studies published from January 1, 2020, to June 13, 2020, and updated on September 6, 2020, on databases from PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, and Google Scholar.

Methods: We conducted a cross sectional study to evaluate CNB results from fifty-two patients with history of parotid gland lesion and inconclusive previous fine needle aspiration.
Aims: Diabetes is associated with the excess formation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) and advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP), and low levels of ferric reducing ability of plasma (FRAP). However, the trend of oxidative and antioxidant markers levels according to diabetes duration is unclear.
Main Methods: In a case-control study, 240 patients with diabetes and 100 healthy controls were enrolled.
Purpose: Regarding the role of inflammation in progression of diabetes this study was conducted to investigate the association between inflammatory biomarkers such as nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) with the chance of existence of diabetic retinopathy and its progression in patients with diabetes.
Methods: A total of 83 patients with T2DM (Type 2 diabetes mellitus) were divided into three groups of patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), patients with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) and patients without diabetic retinopathy (NDR) based on ophthalmologic funduscopic examination. Twenty six healthy controls were also enrolled.
Background: The role of chronic inflammation and oxidative stress in the development of diabetes and cancer has been established. In this study, we aimed to investigate inflammatory and oxidative stress markers in patients with diabetes (DM) and endometrial carcinoma (EC) separately and in combination.
Methods: In a case-control study design, a total of 88 participants were enrolled including: 37 patients with EC (19 with DM and 18 without DM), 29 with type2 diabetes and 22 healthy controls.
