In order to reconstruct the phylogenetic relationships among the members of . subgenus and to test the "out of the Iranian plateau" hypothesis, we applied thorough taxonomic sampling, employing nuclear DNA (ITS) sequence data complimented with morphological studies and chromosome number counts.
