Background/objectives: The diagnosis of oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) represent a significant challenge in oral medicine. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) shows promise for evaluating oral tissue microstructure but lacks standardized diagnostic protocols tailored to the structural variability and lesions of oral mucosa.
Methods: This cross-sectional observational study aims to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of targeted biopsy-based and site-coded OCT protocols for common OPMDs and OSCC.

Objective: The study aims to show the efficacy/effectiveness and safety of vaccinations in patients with multiple sclerosis.
Materials And Methods: This systematic review was conducted following the guidelines of the Cochrane Collaboration and the meta-analysis of observational studies in epidemiology (MOOSE).
Results: At the end of the review process, 133 studies were included; the bibliographic search was conducted on PubMed/Medline and Scopus, combining free text and words.
The purpose of this observational study was to evaluate the potential epidemiological trend of arboviral diseases most reported in Italy by the dedicated national surveillance system (ISS data) compared to searches on the internet, assessing whether a correlation/association between users' searches in Google and Wikipedia and real cases exists. The study considers a time interval from June 2012 to December 2023. We used the following Italian search terms: "Virus Toscana", "Virus del Nilo occidentale" (West Nile Virus in English), "Encefalite trasmessa da zecche" (Tick Borne encephalitis in English), and "Dengue".

Despite acknowledging the high potential of AI models in terms of quick access to sources and formulating responses to a clinical question, the results obtained using these models still require validation through comparison with established clinical guidelines. This study compares the responses of the AI model to eight clinical questions with the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM) guidelines for ovarian cancer.

Objective: During the mass vaccination campaign for COVID-19, cases of menstrual cycle changes in women emerged, so it was thought that the COVID-19 vaccine could affect the menstrual cycle. Over time, these observations have become more frequent, which strengthens the idea. This systematic review aims to show changes in the menstrual cycle after COVID-19 vaccination.

Since COVID-19 infection alters the metabolic equilibrium, it may induce pathophysiologic mechanisms that potentiate new-onset DM, and we evaluated this issue.
Method: A systematic review of the literature published from the 1 January 2020 until the 20 July 2023 was performed (PROSPERO registration number CRD42022341638).
The past two decades have witnessed telemedicine becoming a crucial part of health care as a method to facilitate doctor-patient interaction. Due to technological developments and the incremental acquisition of experience in its use, telemedicine's advantages and cost-effectiveness has led to it being recognised as specifically relevant to diabetology. However, the pandemic created new challenges for healthcare systems and the rate of development of digital services started to grow exponentially.

Malnutrition is a negative prognostic factor for the outcome of surgery or medical oncology treatments. Despite the good awareness of the problem and the knowledge of the guidelines, the early recognition of malnutrition and its management are still uneven, mainly due to the lack of implementation of standardized and shared protocols and the shortage of dedicated clinical nutritionists and dieticians.

The alterations in innate and adaptive cellular immunity, adipose tissue, alveolar and endothelial dysfunction, hypercoagulation, the propensity to an increased viral load, and chronic diabetic complications are all associated with glucometabolic perturbations of T2DM patients that predispose them to severe forms of COVID-19 and mortality. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection negatively impacts glucose homeostasis due to its effects on insulin sensitivity and β-cell function, further aggravating the preexisting glucometabolic perturbations in individuals with T2DM.

Our previous study demonstrated that a Cynara cardunculus (L.) based nutraceutical named Altilix® (Bionap, Italy), containing chlorogenic acid and luteolin extracts, was able to improve several hepatic and cardio-metabolic parameters.

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic, has been shown to disrupt many organ systems in the human body. Though several medical disorders have been affected by this infection, a few illnesses in addition may also play a role in determining the outcome of COVID-19. Obesity is one such disease which is not only affected by the occurrence of COVID-19 but can also result in a worse clinical outcome of COVID-19 infection.

There is evidence of an association between cancer and certain types of altered eating behaviors, including orthorexia, food cravings, and food addiction. Given the growing interest in the topic throughout the scientific community we conducted a systematic review to summarize current evidence on the development of altered food behavior, including food addiction and cancer. The Cochrane Collaboration and the Meta-analysis Of Observational Studies in Epidemiology guidelines were followed to perform this systematic review.

An integrated clinical pathway (ICP) is necessary to achieve this goal as well as the implementation of its use in daily practice. The objective of this study was to elaborate on an integrated clinical pathway for the multi-disciplinary management of ECG.
