Mobile unidirectional airflow device reduces air contamination in an intravitreal outpatient clean room setting.

Purpose: To evaluate and compare the mycobacterial load using a mobile laminar airflow (LAF) device in an IVI-dedicated outpatient clean room (OCR) without ventilation systems and in a hospital-based operating theatre (HOT).

Methods: This case-control study was conducted in 2 different settings: OCR and HOT during a series of intravitreal injections (IVIs). The Air Microbial analysis was performed using a Surface Air System instrument at three different moments during the IVI sessions in both settings: at the operative site (OS), four meters from the OS (DOS) and in the disinfection room (DR).

Optic disc pit maculopathy: Covering or filling technique with human amniotic membrane patch to treat the optic disc pit maculopathy?

Purpose: To describe two patients affected by optic disk pit-maculopathy ODP-M surgically treated with pars-plana vitrectomy (PPV) and the apposition of a human Amniotic Membrane (hAM) patch.

Methods: Patients underwent a PPV with the apposition of a hAM patch to cover the ODP. In case 1, a 2 surgery was necessary to push the hAM patch inside the pit, whereas in case 2 the patch was pulled inside the pit following the pressure gradient when infusion was turned on.

Choroidal vascularity analysis in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis without acute uveitis.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate choroidal involvement and the degree of anterior chamber inflammation in a cohort of patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) without clinical signs of active uveitis and to compare it with healthy controls (HC).

Methods: Enhanced-depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) scans of 21 patients diagnosed with JIA and 22 HC of equal age were acquired. Images were binarised to measure subfoveal choroidal thickness (SCT), nasal choroidal thickness (NCT), temporal choroidal thickness (TCT), total choroidal area (TCA), luminal area (LA), stromal area (SA) and choroidal vascular index (CVI).

Risk of retinal vein occlusion following COVID-19 vaccination: a self-controlled case series.

Real-world outcomes of anti-VEGF therapy in treatment-naïve neovascular age-related macular degeneration diagnosed on OCT angiography: the REVEAL study.

Methods: Monocentric, observational, parallel-group study of nAMD patients diagnosed with either FA/ICGA or non-invasive OCT-A methods. Patients were treated with a fixed dosing regimen of intravitreal ranibizumab or aflibercept and followed up for 12 months.

Purpose: To evaluate the surgical outcomes and feasibility of a novel approach for scleral-fixation using a single-piece acrylic foldable Carlevale lens (Soleko).

Methods: Eighteen eyes of 18 patients with aphakia, dislocated IOL, subluxated lens, anisometropia, perforated trauma, and retinal detachment who underwent IOL implantation with a Carlevale lens were evaluated. All the patients underwent a standard ophthalmologic examination.

We recently synthesized the novel organotin ferulic acid derivative tributyltin (IV) ferulate (TBT-F) and demonstrated that it displays anti-tumor properties in colon cancer cells related with autophagic cell death. The purpose of the present study was to elucidate the mechanism of TBT-F action in colon cancer cells.

OCT-Angiography as a reliable prognostic tool in laser-treated proliferative diabetic retinopathy: The RENOCTA Study.

Purpose: To quantitatively assess retinal neovascularizations (RNVs) in proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) before and after photocoagulative laser treatment (PLT) using Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCT-A).

Methods: Consecutive patients with PDR were examined with fluorescein angiography (FA) and OCT-A before and after PLT. Baseline and after-treatment FA images were quantitatively analyzed to assess both the RNVs area and leakage area.
