Digital Therapeutic (Mika) Targeting Distress in Patients With Cancer: Results From a Nationwide Waitlist Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: Distress is highly prevalent among patients with cancer, but supportive care needs often go unmet. Digital therapeutics hold the potential to overcome barriers in cancer care and improve health outcomes.

Objective: This study conducted a randomized controlled trial to investigate the efficacy of Mika, an app-based digital therapeutic designed to reduce distress across the cancer trajectory.

Objective: This randomized waitlist controlled pilot study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of Mika, an app-based digital therapeutic intervention hypothesized to improve management and the support of cancer patients.

Methods: Patients with gynecological malignancies undergoing post-operative or routine outpatient chemotherapy were randomized (5:2) into intervention (Mika plus treatment-as-usual) and control (treatment-as-usual alone). Feasibility outcomes including dropout rate, reasons for dropout, and intervention adherence, as well as efficacy outcomes including depression, fatigue, and health literacy were assessed at baseline, 4, 8, and 12 weeks.

Marine Spatial Planning in the Benguela Current Large Marine Ecosystem.

The Benguela Current Large Marine Ecosystem (BCLME) in the south-east Atlantic covers the territorial waters and Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ's) of Angola and Namibia and partly of South Africa. Increasing demands, user-user and user-environment conflicts occur throughout the area. The three countries, which are parties to the Benguela Current Convention (BCC), have begun to implement Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) to support the sustainable development of the area and enhance ocean governance.

The data are captured with multiple CCD cameras located around an object. The display system is based on multiple tilted spatial light modulators (SLMs) arranged in a circular configuration.

This paper presents a wide angle holographic display system with extended viewing angle in both horizontal and vertical directions. The display is constructed from six spatial light modulators (SLM) arranged on a circle and an additional SLM used for spatiotemporal multiplexing and a viewing angle extension in two perpendicular directions. The additional SLM, that is synchronized with the SLMs on the circle is placed in the image space.

Developing mechanistic models to predict an organism's body temperature facilitates the study of physiological stresses caused by extreme climatic conditions the species might have faced in the past or making predictions about changes to come in the near future. Because the models combine empirical observation of different climatic variables with essential morphological attributes of the species, it is possible to examine specific aspects of predicted climatic changes. Here, we develop a model for the competitively dominant intertidal mussel Perumytilus purpuratus that estimates body temperature on the basis of meteorological and tidal data with an average difference (+/-SE) of 0.

The Faces Symbol Test, a newly developed screening instrument to assess cognitive decline related to multiple sclerosis: first results of the Berlin Multi-Centre FST Validation Study.

Reliable, language-independent, short screening instruments to test for cognitive function in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) remain rare, despite the high number of patients affected by cognitive decline. We developed a new, short screening instrument, the Faces Symbol Test (FST), and compared its diagnostic test characteristics with a composite of the Digit Symbol Substitution Test (DSST) and the Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test (PASAT), in 108 MS patients and 33 healthy controls. An Informant-Report Questionnaire, a Self-Report Questionnaire, and a neurologist's estimation of the Every Day Life Cognitive Status were also applied to the MS patients.

[Urinary enzyme excretion in cephalothin therapy in adults and children].

A damage of the kidney, particularly of proximal tubular cells, can be indicated by an increased concentration of definite enzymes in urine. After gynecological operation the repeated application of 8 g cephalothin daily provokes an higher increase of enzyme concentrations in urine than the application of ampicillin under the same conditions. These results show that cephalothin produces a slight alteration of tubular cells, probably without practical importance.

[Results of follow-up studies in children with megaureters].

It is reported on the results of after-examinations in children with megaureters. The average interval between first operation and last after-examination is 8.1 years (1 to 14 years).
