There are considerable data documenting the importance of early experiences for healthy human development. Though widely accepted amongst mental health clinicians, developmental researchers and early childhood policymakers, this information is not well known by much of the public. We describe a specialized program designed for established and emerging leaders in Louisiana, United States of America, to help them become better informed to take action to support young children and their families and to facilitate connections across sectors for greater impact.

Response to joint attention (RJA) is impaired in preschoolers with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and is pivotal to social and communication development. Response to joint attention was examined at 14 and 24 months in 51 children at high risk for autism (siblings of children with autism). Outcome groups at age 3 years included ASD (n = 16), broader autism phenotype (n = 8), and non-broader autism phenotype (n = 27).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe analysis of sera obtained from animals vaccinated or revaccinated with inactivated vaccines against foot and mouth disease (FMD) virus showed that these vaccines induced antibodies against the virus infection-associated (VIA) antigen, detectable by agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID). The present study evaluates the antibody response to protein 3D and the VIA antigen (VIAA) of FMD virus induced by different vaccines in a group of 51 calves. This response was detected using AGID and a liquid-phase blocking sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for anti-3D antibodies (ELISA-3D).

We report here the isolation of a mutant tRNAPhe that suppresses a double missense auxotrophic mutation in trpA of Escherichia coli, trpA218. The doubly mutant protein product differs from wild-type TrpA by the replacements of Phe22 by Leu and Gly211 by Ser. A partial revertant TrpA phenotype can be obtained from trpA218 by changing either Leu22 back to Phe or Ser211 back to Gly.
