We study numerically and experimentally the second-harmonic generation (SHG) from rectangular metagratings of V-shaped gold nanoantennas. We show that by carefully engineering the array pitch to steer the diffraction orders toward the single antenna emission, the extracted signal is maximized. This enhancement is attributed to the angular overlap between the radiation pattern and array factor and is comparable to the improvement yielded by the coupling of surface lattice resonances (SLRs) with local modes.

NLR was an accurate predictor of mortality, with patients with NLR ≥ 5 having significantly worse overall survival and more than twice the mortality rate compared to those with NLR < 5. Multivariable models confirmed that increasing age, previous venous thrombosis and NLR ≥ 5 were strong predictors of death, further influenced by cardiovascular risk factors.

Heterogeneous approaches exist in regard to the management of disease-related co-morbidities in potential allogeneic haematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) candidates with myelofibrosis (MF). The EBMT Chronic Malignancies Working Party launched an electronic survey to evaluate how MF-specific comorbidities are approached and whether they ultimately affect the decision to transplant. A total of 41/63 (65%) Centers, all of whom were experienced in the management of MF allo-HCT, responded.

No approved treatments are currently available. This study presents real-world data obtained with narsoplimab, a human immunoglobulin G4 monoclonal antibody that inhibits MASP-2, the effector enzyme of the lectin pathway of the complement system.

The aim of the present work is the reconstruction of a new in vitro minimal human gut microbiota resembling the microbe-microbe networking comprising the principal phyla (Bacillota, Bacteroidota, Pseudomonadota, and Actinomycetota), to comprehend the intestinal ecosystem complexity. In the reductionist model, we mimicked the administration of Maitake extract as prebiotic and a probiotic formulation (three strains belonging to Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium genera), evaluating the modulation of strain levels, the release of beneficial metabolites, and their health-promoting effects on human cell lines of the intestinal environment.

A total of 530 patients were included; 73 received TREO and 457 BU (BU ≤ 6.4 mg/kg in 134, considered RIC, BU > 6.

In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of pre-transplant infusion of rituximab in patients with ABO-incompatibility in improving red blood cell engraftment after HSCT, measured by time to reach transfusion independence. We performed a retrospective, single-center study including 131 consecutive patients transplanted with major or bidirectional ABO-incompatible grafts between 1st January 2013 and 31st December 2019.

METHODS: In a phase 2 open-label randomized trial, we compared ropeginterferon alfa-2b (ropeg; 100 μg every 2 weeks) with phlebotomy only regarding maintenance of a median hematocrit level (≤45%) over 12 months in the absence of progressive disease (primary end point). In follow-up, crossover to the alternative treatment group was allowed if the primary end point was not met.

In the present paper, we analyzed drug survival, defined as a surrogate measure of the efficacy, safety, adherence, and tolerability of Ropeg in patients followed up to 5 years. During the first 2 years, Ropeg and phlebotomy-only (Phl-O) were discontinued in 33% and 70% of patients, respectively, for lack of response (12 in the Ropeg arm vs.

In this field, metasurfaces are rapidly gaining traction as ultrathin multifunctional platforms for light management. Among the featured functionalities, they enable light-wavefront manipulation and more recently demonstrated the ability to perform light-by-light manipulation through nonlinear optical processes.

A comparison between numerical studies and polarization-resolved measurements of the generated THz signal reveals a 2 orders of magnitude enhancement in the nonlinear response compared to optical frequencies. We show that this enhancement is due to optical phonon modes at 4.

This complexity is amplified in CALR-mutated MF patients, as they live longer with conventional treatments compared to other molecular subtypes. We analyzed outcomes of 346 CALR-mutated MF patients who underwent allo-HCT in 123 EBMT centers between 2005 and 2019.

Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted on 354 patients who delivered between 2018 and 2020. 177 women who delivered preterm were matched with 177 controls who had full-term delivery.
Purpose Of Review: This review focuses on vascular complications associated with chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) and more specifically aims to discuss the clinical and biological evidence supporting the existence of a link between clonal hematopoiesis, cardiovascular events (CVE), and solid cancer (SC).
Recent Findings: The MPN natural history is driven by uncontrolled clonal myeloproliferation sustained by acquired somatic mutations in driver (JAK2, CALR, and MPL) and non-driver genes, involving epigenetic (e.g.
Recent advancements in quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols opened the chance to exploit nonlaser sources for their implementation. A possible solution might consist in erbium-doped light emitting diodes (LEDs), which are able to produce photons in the third communication window, with a wavelength around 1550 nm. Here, we present silicon LEDs based on the electroluminescence of Er:O complexes in Si.

The nanoscale morphology and the electronic properties of the C/ZnTPP/Fe(001)-(1 × 1)O heterostructure have been investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy and ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy. C nucleates compact and well-ordered hexagonal domains on top of the ZnTPP buffer layer, suggesting a high surface diffusivity of C and a weak coupling between the overlayer and the substrate.

Teachers can use it to give lectures to small groups (10-15) of students in a shared virtual environment, both remotely (with teacher and students in different locations) and locally (while sharing the same physical space). Lectures can be recorded, stored in an online repository, and shared with students who can either review a recorded lecture in the same virtual environment or can use the application for self-studying by exploring a large collection of available crystal structures.
