Introduction: To assess the current state of the cytopathology workforce shortage in the United States.
Materials And Methods: A survey comprising 32 questions was developed by the Government Affairs and Economic Policy Committee of the American Society of Cytopathology using Survey Monkey software. It was distributed to the American Society of Cytopathology membership through email, and the anonymous responses were compiled into an Excel spreadsheet.
The present study aimed to investigate the impact on nutritional and functional properties of dried kiwifruit ( cv. Sungold) slices during conservation for 120 days in sealed containers in the dark at 25 °C. For this purpose, kiwifruits slices were dried at two different temperatures, 40 and 55 °C, for 30 and 25 h, respectively.

Materials And Methods: A total of 21 subjects, who had sustained various types of blunt high-energy trauma, were selected from the casuistry of the Section of Legal Medicine at University of Pisa: before autopsy, a PMCT examination (Toshiba Aquilion 16 CT scanner) was performed, and after the acquisition of the raw images, MPR and VR reconstructions were performed with dedicated software.
Cortical atrophy, neuronal loss, beta-amyloid deposition, neuritic plaques, and neurofibrillary tangles are neuropathological key features in the Alzheimer's disease (AD). Antibodies against beta-amyloid, neurotransmitters, microvascular endothelium components and microglial cells have been detected in AD serum suggesting that AD could be another autoimmune disease and provides a link between vascular pathology, endothelium dysfunction and neuronal cells death. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the association between autoantibody profile and cognitive impairment in geriatric patients, accounting for ApoE genotype as a potential confounding factor.

There have been 10 reported cases of dermoid cysts in the cavernous sinus, two in the petrous apex, and one in the extradural Meckel cave. This is the first case report of a dermoid cyst in the anterior infratemporal fossa attached to the anterior dura of the foramen ovale.

The influence of regulatory T-cells (Tregs) on the response to antiviral therapy was analyzed. Patients were considered as a function of their sustained virological response (SVR) at 18 months after treatment initiation.

Human papillomavirus testing is now routinely used to screen for cervical carcinoma and precursor lesions of the cervix (cotesting and reflex testing) and these results are considered in patient triage and management.
Objective: To provide information about current laboratory practices in human papillomavirus testing and consensus best practice statements based on results from the College of American Pathologists' laboratory-based survey funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The authors describe a rare case of unilateral hypoglossal nerve palsy caused by an intraneural ganglion cyst. Three similar cases have been reported with pathological classification still under consideration. One case was classified as an intraneural ganglion cyst and 2 cases were classified as atlantooccipital joint synovial cysts.

All reported cases of hepatocellular carcinoma in association with Crohn's disease involve patients treated previously with azathioprine or both azathioprine and steroids. However, hepatocellular carcinoma associated with the use of azathioprine and infliximab has not been reported.

Sites of biopsy included liver (n = 24), retroperitoneum (n = 9), adrenal gland (n = 5), pancreas (n = 4), omentum (n = 4), and miscellaneous sites (n = 4). Aspiration and nonaspiration FNBs were performed in each lesion with 22-gauge needles, and results were interpreted by a single cytopathologist.

The interval between PE sessions varied from once daily to approximately once monthly. Typically, post-PE patterns had decreased alpha-1, decreased alpha-2, decreased beta, and decreased gamma fractions.

The lesions occurred at or near the site of previous excision, 3-117 months after initiation of radiotherapy. FNAs were classified as follows: acellular (11); negative (29); atypical (13); suspicious (4); and positive (3).

This is the first report of kappa oligoclonal banding in the protein electrophoretograms for urine but not for serum of two patients with the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Both patients had proteinuria, but only one had the nephrotic syndrome and renal failure.

A 72-year-old female with metastatic breast cancer developed oligoblastic granulocytic leukemia 6 months after initiation of chemotherapy. Cytogenetic examination of the bone marrow cells revealed a balanced t(X;19)(q12;q13.3) as the sole abnormality in 50% of the metaphases.
