Workers of the leafcutter ant genus provide an extreme example of behavioral segregation among many phenotypically distinct worker types. We utilize the complex worker system of to test the molecular underpinnings of behavioral programming and, in particular, the extent of plasticity to reprogramming.

Donor-acceptor cyclopropanes containing a phenolic group as the donor undergo deprotonation and isomerization to form the corresponding quinone methides. This innovative strategy was applied to achieve (4 + 1)-annulation of cyclopropanes with sulfur ylides, affording functionalized dihydrobenzofurans.

A common key step for behavioral analysis is first extracting relevant keypoints on animals, known as pose estimation. However, reliable inference of poses currently requires domain knowledge and manual labeling effort to build supervised models.

For CeO nanoparticles, one of the most prominent inorganic nanozymes that have diverse enzymatic activities, the size effect remains poorly understood. The low-temperature hydrothermal treatment of ceric ammonium nitrate aqueous solutions made it possible to obtain CeO aqueous sols with different particle sizes (2.

This method includes a Lewis acid-catalyzed opening of the donor-acceptor cyclopropane with primary amines (anilines, benzylamines, etc.) to γ-amino esters, followed by in situ lactamization and dealkoxycarbonylation.

The age at which the surgical correction of congenital spinal deformity should be performed is a controversial issue among specialists dealing with this problem. The aim of the work was to conduct a comparative analysis of the results of spinal deformity correction in children with congenital kyphoscoliosis with an isolated hemivertebra of preschool and primary school age.

The synthesis was carried out at temperatures below 100 °C and did not require the use of expensive and toxic reagents. An assessment of the radical-scavenging properties of the obtained sols using the superoxide anion-radical neutralization model revealed that they demonstrate notable antioxidant activity.

Here, we present a method for the digital detection of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) on silicon microchips based on the counting of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) in DNA duplexes by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Biotin-labeled DNA is hybridized with capture oligonucleotide probes immobilized on the microchips.

The initiative on mobilisation of literature-based occurrence data started in the northern part of West Siberia in 2016. The present project extends the initiative to the southern regions and includes ten administrative territories (Tyumen Region, Sverdlovsk Region, Chelyabinsk Region, Omsk Region, Kurgan Region, Tomsk Region, Novosibirsk Region, Kemerovo Region, Altai Territory and Republic of Altai).

Design: We evaluated EBV DNA load and EBV antibodies in HIV-NHL patients enrolled in the French ANRS-CO16 Lymphovir Cohort between 2008 and 2015.
Methods: Whole blood and plasma EBV DNA load and serological profiles were analyzed in 76 HIV-infected patients at diagnosis of NHL and 6 months after the initiation of chemotherapy.
Plants utilize a plethora of peptide signals to regulate their immune response. Peptide ligands and their cognate receptors involved in immune signaling share common motifs among many species of vascular plants. However, the origin and evolution of immune peptides is still poorly understood.

Unlabelled: The surgical technique of proximal tibial osteotomy for genu varum in adults has evolved from a procedure using closing wedges of estimated sizes with staple fixation in the 1960s to using standard trauma internal fixation implants and, more recently, to gradual correction with software-guided hexapod external fixators. In the last two decades, implant manufacturers have also produced anatomical implants specific for such corrective osteotomies. This study evaluates the limits of using such proprietary implants for proximal tibial osteotomy in genu varum.

Under stress, intensive chloroplast protein remodeling and degradation can occur, releasing large numbers of endogenous peptides. These protein-derived peptides can be found intracellularly, but also in the plant secretome.

We investigated this question with a scientific mass collaboration using the common task method; 160 teams built predictive models for six life outcomes using data from the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study, a high-quality birth cohort study. Despite using a rich dataset and applying machine-learning methods optimized for prediction, the best predictions were not very accurate and were only slightly better than those from a simple benchmark model. Within each outcome, prediction error was strongly associated with the family being predicted and weakly associated with the technique used to generate the prediction.
