The pursuit of novel treatment alternatives to address the accumulated resistance to antimicrobials over the years has prompted the scientific community to explore biodiversity, particularly animal venom, as a potential source of new antimicrobial drugs. Snake venoms, with their complex mixtures of components, are particularly promising targets for investigation in this regard. The search for novel molecules exhibiting antimicrobial activity against multidrug-resistant strains is of paramount importance for public health and numerous research groups worldwide.
