Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is established in dentistry for about 20 years. Technique evolved and indications clarified since then and since the Swiss consensus guidelines regarding CBCT were published in 2014 and 2015. Therefore, the Swiss association of dentomaxillofacial radiology decided to initiate the process of updating these guidelines by forming a consensus group divided into a core group responsible for the whole process and an approval group responsible for specific clinical matters.

Background And Aims: Colony-stimulating factor 1 (CSF1) is a growth factor secreted by dorsal root ganglia (DRG) neurons important for DRG macrophages and spinal cord (SC) microglia injury-induced proliferation and activation, specifically released after spared nerve injury (SNI). In this study, we investigated if SNI-induced CSF1 expression and perineuronal rings of macrophages around mouse DRG neurons vary between L3-L5 DRG and with the neuronal type, and if the CSF1 neuronal projections at the SC dorsal horns were associated with an increased microglial number in the corresponding laminae.

Methods: Seven days after surgery, L3-L5 DRG as well as their corresponding segments at the SC level were collected, frozen, and cut.

Cyclophilin (CyP) D is a regulator of the mitochondrial F-ATP synthase. Here we report the discovery of a form of CyPD lacking the first 10 (mouse) or 13 (human) N-terminal residues (ΔN-CyPD), a protein region with species-specific features. NMR studies on recombinant human full-length CyPD (FL-CyPD) and ΔN-CyPD form revealed that the N-terminus is highly flexible, in contrast with the rigid globular part.

Antibiotic resistance and poor biofilm penetration are the main causes of ineffective therapeutic treatment in killing bacteria within biofilms. Twenty years after the conceptual revolution that occurred in the millennium turnaround upon the introduction of PET/CT in lymphoma staging, restaging, and prognostication, a number of new parameters for PET reading have been proposed: (1) the shift from a qualitative to a semi-quantitative reading for PET reporting, (2) an international consensus on these novel interpretation keys, (3) a standardized and agreed procedure to measure the total metabolic tumour volume (TMTV), and (4) the proposition of new indexes to portray the tumour spread: (D-Max and Total Lesion Surface -TLS). These proved to be very powerful prognosticators, able to revolutionize the traditional Ann Arbor four-stage lymphoma staging. This study, the first to analyze accident data from a major compulsory Swiss health insurer (Concordia), reviewed 5,063 dental accident reports of 122,370 children under the age of 16. The predominant cause of injury was a "fall," with "playing" being the foremost activity mentioned and "ground" identified as the primary object of impact. The analysis of the involved objects showed that dental injuries occur most frequently with scooters, bicycles, and stairs.
