Serious games represent a promising avenue for intervention with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, a neurodevelopmental disorder marked by persistent challenges in social communication and the presence of restricted, repetitive behaviors. Despite this potential, comprehensive reviews on this subject are scarce. This systematic review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of serious games and their specific characteristics in enhancing social skills among children and adolescents with autism.

Monitoring ten insect pests in selected orchards in three Azorean Islands: The project CUARENTAGRI.

Background: The data we present are part of the CUARENTAGRI project, which involves all archipelagos of the Macaronesia (Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands and Cabo Verde). The project aims to: i) identify and evaluate the risks associated with the introduction of new arthropod pests; ii) study the population dynamics of selected arthropod pest species currently responsible for the damage of key target crops and iii) develop monitoring systems, based on prediction and/or population dynamics of the crop pests, creating warnings and a phytosanitary prevention system. In this contribution, we compile data for three Azorean Islands (Terceira, São Jorge and São Miguel Islands), where pheromone-baited traps were placed in pastures, potato fields and several orchards' types (apples, banana, chestnuts, olives, orange and strawberry), during three consecutive years (2020, 2021 and 2022).

Background: Most patients suffering from pathological nipple discharge (PND) undergo local surgical procedures because standard radiological imaging often fails to reveal the cause. Ductoscopy is a minimally invasive endoscopic technique that enables direct intraductal visualization and can avoid unnecessary diagnostic surgical procedures. Hence, patients with recurrent or persistent PND after an unsuccessful ductoscopy procedure still undergo unnecessary surgery.

Feasibility of Narrow-Band Imaging, Intraductal Biopsy, and Laser Ablation During Mammary Ductoscopy: Protocol for an Interventional Study.

Introduction: Ductoscopy is a minimally invasive micro-endoscopic approach for direct visualization of intraductal lesions of the breast. Challenges of ductoscopy are low sensitivity for detecting malignancy, the lack of a proper intraductal biopsy device, and adequate treatment of intraductal lesions. This study will analyze three new approaches to enhance the effectiveness of interventional ductoscopy in patients with (premalignant) intraductal lesions: narrow-band imaging (NBI), new intraductal biopsy tools, and intraductal laser ablation.

Meta-analysis of COVID-19 prevalence during preoperative COVID-19 screening in asymptomatic patients.

Objectives: Patients with COVID-19 may be asymptomatic and are able to transmit COVID-19 during a surgical procedure, resulting in increased pressure on healthcare and reduced control of COVID-19 spread. For inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), gastrointestinal surgeries were postponed and changes in treatment and diagnostic procedures were made. As abrupt changes in treatment regimens may result in an increased morbidity and consequent well-being of patients with IBD, the aim of this study was to determine the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with IBD.
