Instabilities in energy supply caused by equipment failures, particularly in power transformers, can significantly impact efficiency and lead to shutdowns, which can affect the population. To address this, researchers have developed fault diagnosis strategies for oil-immersed power transformers using dissolved gas analysis (DGA) to enhance reliability and environmental responsibility. However, the fault diagnosis of oil-immersed power transformers has not been exhaustively investigated.

This study analyzed recent changes in the utilization of allogeneic HCT for treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), and myeloproliferative diseases (MPD) and the survival of HCT recipients ≥60 years of age in Brazil. This retrospective registry study included patients who received a first allogeneic HCT from any donor between 2012 and 2023. Of the 6657 patients, 444 (7%) were 60 years of age or older who received grafts from HLA-matched related (42%) or unrelated (20%) donors or HLA-haploidentical donors (32%).

Several artificial neural networks have been developed to detect facial landmarks; however, no publications have reported the application of neural networks to measure facial proportions specifically for orthognathic surgery planning. Objectives: To develop a computer program that automates facial measurements through photograph capture, as well as to present the development stages of the program and the test results evaluating its effectiveness.

Material And Methods: This study has two parts: a report of the case of a 20- year-old man who underwent orthognathic surgery for facial paralysis, and an integrative literature review on postoperative facial paralysis following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statements and performed survival analyses of all cases reported to date.
Results: The analysis was composed of 33 patients; 54,5% were male (mean age, 25 years).
The variability in genetic variance and covariance due to genotype × environment interaction (G×E) can hinder genotype selection accuracy, especially for complex traits. This study analyzed G×E interactions in cassava to identify stable, high-performing genotypes and predict agronomic performance in untested environments using factor analytic multiplicative mixed models (FAMM) within multi-environment trials (METs). We evaluated 22 cassava genotypes for fresh root yield (FRY), dry root yield (DRY), shoot yield (ShY), and dry matter content (DMC) across 55 Brazilian environments.

It is genetically heterogeneous, including point mutations and structural variants in different loci. Five individuals with SHFM were clinically evaluated in a Tertiary Center in Brazil: four of them presented additional, nonskeletal findings, including one individual with split foot, hand syndactyly, and ectodermal findings.

Traditional dissection techniques, such as Klingler's white matter dissection, are essential, but newer methods can provide additional clarity. This study explores the application of a fluorescent-assisted technique to improve the visualization and understanding of white matter fibers during neurosurgical training.

Anti-inflammatory efficacy, fewer adverse effects, improved selectivity, and curative action are imminent issues for patients suffering from chronic inflammation-related pathologies. Then, we performed a complete and critical review about anthelmintics, discussing the main classes and the available preclinical evidence on repurposing to treat inflammation-based conditions.

Background: The 24-h urine protein (24-hUP) excretion is the gold standard for evaluating proteinuria. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of protein/creatinine ratio (PCR) for estimating 24-hUP at various levels of renal function and proteinuria levels.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between December 2021 and December 2023 in Salvador, Bahia-Brazil, as an extension of previously published data from the TUNARI study.

Personalized brain implants have the potential to revolutionize the treatment of neurological disorders and augment cognition. Medical implants that deliver therapeutic stimulation in response to detected seizures have already been deployed for the treatment of epilepsy. These devices require low-power integrated circuits for life-long operation.

In this context, Brazilian bentonite/MgO composites, with excellent adsorptive properties, were prepared and investigated for their effectiveness in removing cationic and anionic dyes from aqueous solutions. The new adsorbents were obtained using Brazilian bentonites and MgO using the mechanochemical method followed by heat treatment (at 700 °C for 4 h).

New methods are essential to characterize the performance of substitute procedures for detecting therapeutic action(s) of a chemical or key signal of toxicological events. Herein, it was discussed the applications and advantages of using arthropods, worms, and fishes in pharmacological and/or toxicology assessments. First of all, the illusion of similarity covers many differences between humans and mice, remarkably about liver injury and metabolism of xenobiotics.

The development of hydroxyapatite (HAp) and polyether ether ketone (PEEK) biocomposites has been extensively studied for bone repair applications due to the synergistic properties of the involved materials. In this study, we aimed to develop HAp/PEEK biocomposites using high-energy ball milling, with HAp concentrations (20%, 40%, and 60% /) in PEEK, to evaluate their physicochemical, mechanical, cytotoxicity, and antimicrobial properties for potential applications in Tissue Engineering (TE). The biocomposites were characterized by structure, morphology, apparent porosity, diametral compression strength, cytotoxicity, and antimicrobial activity.

Background: Uncorrected myopia is a leading cause of blindness globally, with a rising prevalence in recent decades. Pathological myopia, often seen in individuals with increased axial length (AXL), can result in severe structural changes in the posterior pole, including myopic tractional maculopathy (MTM). MTM arises from tractional forces at the vitreoretinal interface, leading to progressive macular retinoschisis, macular holes, and retinal detachment (RD).

Accurate transverse deformation measurements are required for the estimation of the Poisson function and volume ratio. In this study, pure silicone and soft composite specimens were subjected to uniaxial tension, and the digital image correlation method was used to measure longitudinal and in- and out-of-plane transverse stretches. To minimize the effects of measurement errors on parameter estimation, the measured transverse stretches were defined in terms of the longitudinal stretch using a new formulation based on Poisson's ratios and two stretch-dependent parameters.
