6-Bromo- and 6,7-dibromo-1,3-dimethyl-1-perimidin-2(3)-ones were arylated with arylboronic acids under Suzuki-Miyaura reaction conditions to afford 6-aryl-, 6-bromo-7-aryl- and 6,7-diaryl-1,3-dimethyl-1-perimidin-2(3)-ones. A comparison of the X-ray structural parameters of -diaryl derivatives of 1,3-dimethyl-1-perimidin-2(3)-one, naphthalene and 1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalene (proton sponge) was performed. Based on the data of dynamic H NMR spectroscopy and quantum-chemical calculations, barriers to /-isomerization of 6,7-diaryl-1,3-dimethyl-1-perimidin-2(3)-ones were estimated.

Axial modification of boron (III) subphthalocyanine bromides with 4-hydroxy-benzoic acid successfully led to the formation of the macrocycles with anchored 4-carboxyphenoxy group [RsPcPHBA] (R=Bu, H) in the axial position and to a new dimer [sPcPHBAsPc] as minor product. Tri-tert-butyl and unsubstituted subphthalocyanines bearing benzoate ([BusPcBA], [sPcBA]), phenoxy-group ([BusPcOPh], [sPcOPh])) in the axial position, have been also investigated as well as control sPcs. All compounds were characterized by NMR, IR, UV-Vis and mass spectrometry.

The oxidation of the Be/Al and Al/Be bilayer thin film systems deposited by magnetron sputtering have been studied by photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Both systems are oxidized according to the Cabrera-Mott model in the air. A Be/BeO/Al/AlO structure is formed, with aluminium represented as localized nanocrystals.

Objective: To access the effect of Relatox, the first Russian botulinum toxin type A, in patients with chronic migraine (CM) and medication overuse (MO).

Material And Methods: In phase IIIb single-blind randomized multicenter active-controlled parallel-group study, patients with CM were randomized to once intramuscular injections of Relatox (101) or onabotulinumtoxin A injections - Botox (108). This subgroup analysis evaluated the percentage of patients who transition from medication overuse to non overuse status from baseline; mean changes in the number of headache days, migraine headache days, acute headache medication intakes days, headache intensity, proportion of patients who had a ≥50% reduction in headache days, proportion of the patients with severe (≥60) Headache Impact Test-6 score and with a severe (≥21) MIDAS score in a 28-day periods in each treatment among patients with baseline acute medication overuse via repeated measures.

Technetium-carbon nanophases are obtained by thermal decomposition of pertechnetates with large organic cations under an argon atmosphere. Parallel carbonization of organic cations (hexamethyleneiminium and triphenylguanidinium), which occurs during the thermal decomposition of their pertechnetates, leads to the formation of X-ray amorphous solid products. An X-ray absorption fine structure study revealed that they have a crystal structure containing technetium-carbon bonds with a length of 1.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of UPA in RA patients in real clinical practice after 3 and 6 months of therapy. The study included 63 RA patients with high activity of the disease. Activity was assessed according to the DAS28(ESR), DAS28(CRP), SDAI, CDAI; functional ability to HAQ; quality of life to the EQ-5D; disease activity according to the patient's RAPID-3 index; the level of depression and anxiety to the HADS scale.

Objective: To assess the effect of food allergies on the course of migraine.

Material And Methods: Seventy patients with migraine, aged 21-56 years old, were examined using headache diary, MIDAS and VAS, studies of specific antibodies of the IgG4 class (delayed type food allergy) by immuno-enzyme analysis (ELISA), microbiological examination of a smear from the mucous membrane of the posterior wall of the oropharynx with mass spectrometry of microbial markers (MSMM) with the identification of 57 microorganisms.

Results: We found an increase in specific IgG4 for a number of food allergens in most patients with migraine, of which 48.

The forced swim test (FST) is widely used to screen for potential antidepressant drugs and treatments. Despite this, the nature of stillness during FST and whether it resembles "depressive-like behavior" are widely debated issues. Furthermore, despite being widely used as a behavioral assay, the effects of the FST on the brain transcriptome are rarely investigated.

A set of novel 1,4-diaryl-1,3-butadiynes terminated by two 7-(arylethynyl)-1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalene fragments was prepared via the Glaser-Hay oxidative dimerization of 2-ethynyl-7-(arylethynyl)-1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalenes. The oligomers synthesized in this way are cross-conjugated systems, in which two conjugation pathways are possible: π-conjugation of 1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalene (DMAN) fragments through a butadiyne linker and a donor-acceptor aryl-C≡C-DMAN conjugation path. The conjugation path can be "switched" simply by protonation of DMAN fragments.

4-Bromo- and 4,5-dibromo-1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalenes were arylated with arylboronic acids under Suzuki reaction conditions to provide 4-aryl- and 4,5-diaryl-1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalenes, respectively. The interaction of 4,5-dibromo-1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalene with pyridin-3-ylboronic acid was accompanied by heterocyclization leading unexpectedly to the formation of ,,,-tetramethylacenaphtho[1,2-]pyridine-3,4-diamine. Dynamic H NMR experiments showed fast interconversion between and conformers of 4,5-diaryl-1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalenes in CDCl solution at room temperature.

Background: Currently, different types of mazes are used to assess spatial learning and memory of rodents. The typical disadvantage is the inability to separate and exclude coincidences of the result of random choice with the correct one. The other problem is the impossibility of knowing whether the animal is guided by particular cues of the environment, or a map.

Background: Fabry disease (FD, OMIM #301500) is a rare, progressive, X-linked, inherited genetic disease caused by a functional deficiency of lysosomal α-galactosidase, leading to the accumulation of glycosphingolipids in virtually all of the body's cell types and fluids. Patients with rare genetic diseases and non-specific symptoms often experience substantial diagnostic delays, which can negatively impact the prompt initiation of treatment. If FD is not treated specifically, end organ damage (such as chronic renal failure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with arrhythmia, and strokes) impairs quality of life and reduces life expectancy.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on identifying chronic migraine patients who might benefit the most from onabotulinumtoxinA treatments, analyzing response rates in a multicenter European setting.
  • Excellent responders were categorized as those with either a significant drop in headache days (≥75%) or those experiencing infrequent headaches (<4 days/month), with about 10% and 5% of patients classified in each category, respectively.
  • Key findings indicated that excellent responders tended to have higher medication overuse and that female patients were less likely to be categorized as frequency-based excellent responders, suggesting that those without medication overuse or female patients might see less benefit from the treatment.
