Real-time surgical navigation systems (dynamic computer-aided surgery, d-CAIS) and static guided surgery (static computer-aided surgery, s-CAIS) have been shown to enhance the accuracy of zygomatic implant (ZI) placement. The objective of this systematic review was to evaluate and compare the accuracy and risk of complications associated with d-CAIS and s-CAIS in ZI placement. A systematic review of published studies involving more than 4 patients was conducted to assess and compare the accuracy of d-CAIS and s-CAIS in zygomatic implant placement.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of a long-acting recombinant human FSH (rhFSH, corifollitropin-alpha) to induce ovarian stimulation in Nelore breed (Bos indicus) calves and prepubertal heifers prior to ovum pick-up (OPU) for in vitro embryo production (IVEP). In Experiment 1, a dose-response trial was performed to determine the optimal dose of rhFSH, which was determined to be 10 μg. In Experiment 2, 6-7 mo old calves were randomly allocated to receive rhFSH either via sc (n = 5) or im (n = 5).

  • Alzheimer's Disease (AD) leads to synapse loss and cognitive decline, and researchers are exploring ways to promote brain health since there’s no cure.
  • Environmental Enrichment (EE), which enhances cognitive stimulation through better living conditions, has been shown to improve brain plasticity and behavioral outcomes in animal models, including those with AD.
  • EE appears to influence key brain systems and proteins, suggesting it could be a new strategy for enhancing neuroprotection and plasticity in patients with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Background: Antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) have become important strategies for addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Despite the increasing number of international publications identifying the important roles played by nurses as part of ASPs in low- and middle-income countries, this topic is yet poorly researched. This study aimed to identify priority research gaps in the Brazilian context concerning nurses' performance in ASPs from the perspective of nursing professionals and explore the main themes among the ideas generated by these nurses.

Article Synopsis
  • The study analyzed the safety and accuracy of static computer-assisted corticotomy surgery (sCACS) versus freehand piezocision through a randomized in vitro approach with 260 corticotomies on 20 models.
  • sCACS showed significantly less risk of damaging root surfaces (2.21 times less likely) and performed better in accuracy across multiple measurements compared to freehand techniques, indicating less deviation from digital planning.
  • The findings suggest that sCACS is a safer and more precise option for performing corticotomies, emphasizing the importance of using surgical guides in tight spaces to minimize root damage in clinical scenarios.

This study aimed to assess the impact of adding strawberry and acerola jam, along with Limosilactobacillus mucosae CNPC007, on the technological, nutritional, bioactive, and microbiological properties of Greek-style goat yogurt. Six yogurt formulations were developed: without and with the addition of L. mucosae CNPC007 (CY and PY, respectively), and with 10 % and 15 % jam (CY10, CY15, PY10, and PY15, respectively).

Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of immediate implant placement in fresh extraction sockets in the maxillary aesthetic zone using a dynamic computer-assisted implant surgery system (dCAIS), with the evaluation of possible deviations versus freehand placement.

Methods: A total of 18 implants were placed by an experienced surgeon in fresh extraction sockets of anterior teeth in 6 maxillary models. Nine implants were placed using the dCAIS system and 9 implants were placed using the conventional freehand technique.

Background: This study aimed to assess whether a driving pressure-limiting strategy based on positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) titration according to best respiratory system compliance and tidal volume adjustment increases the number of ventilator-free days within 28 days in patients with moderate to severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Methods: This is a multi-centre, randomised trial, enrolling adults with moderate to severe ARDS secondary to community-acquired pneumonia. Patients were randomised to a driving pressure-limiting strategy or low PEEP strategy based on a PEEP:FiO table.

  • A study at the University of Barcelona examined dental students' knowledge and attitudes about medications that affect bone and blood vessel formation, particularly regarding their impact on dental treatments.
  • The research involved a survey of 105 students, revealing that while they were aware of antiresorptive medications, many struggled to identify those associated with jaw complications.
  • The findings indicate a need for enhanced educational programs to improve understanding of these medications in relation to dental care.

  • The study aimed to predict exhaled air patterns in patients on mechanical ventilation to help diagnose ventilator-associated pneumonia.
  • Conducted with 83 ICU patients, researchers collected air samples and categorized them into two groups: those with and without ventilator-associated pneumonia.
  • Results showed that specific air patterns from the first 12 hours of ventilation could predict pneumonia, but later samples were not effective in assessing severity or timing of the condition.

Phytoplankton blooms create harmful toxins, scums, and taste and odor compounds and thus pose a major risk to drinking water safety. Climate and land use change are increasing the frequency and severity of blooms, motivating the development of new approaches for preemptive, rather than reactive, water management. While several real-time phytoplankton forecasts have been developed to date, none are both automated and quantify uncertainty in their predictions, which is critical for manager use.
