The rotator cuff, a vital group of tendons and muscles in the shoulder, is essential for stabilizing the joint and enabling a wide range of arm movements. Rotator cuff tears, common across all age groups, often cause significant pain and functional limitations. Rotator cuff repair surgery aims to alleviate pain, restore function, and improve quality of life.

The primary aim of this study was to measure the analgesic efficacy of a sufentanil sublingual tablet system during pregnancy termination and patient satisfaction by comparing nulliparous and multiparous women.

Methods: In a prospective cohort of 117 patients (69 women, 48 men; average age 59) from our institutional rotator cuff registry, who underwent either arthroscopic (n = 77) or open (n = 40) rotator cuff repair, we measured shoulder range of motion (ROM) at 3 and 6 months post-surgery. We evaluated the incidence of stiffness and analyzed functional outcomes, comparing various preoperative and intraoperative factors in patients with stiffness to those without at the 6-month mark.
Reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) has become a highly successful treatment option for various shoulder conditions, leading to a significant increase in its utilization since its approval in 2003. However, postoperative complications, including scapular notching, prosthetic instability, and component loosening, remain a concern. These complications can often be attributed to technical errors during component implantation, emphasizing the importance of proper preoperative planning and accurate positioning of prosthetic components.

Pregnancy-related physiological changes and coronavirus disease (COVID-19) neurotropic features may facilitate the virus' entry into the central nervous system. The principal aim of this study was to test the safety of spinal anesthesia in "severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2" (SARS-CoV-2)-positive pregnant women and to examine cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) characteristics.

Therefore, the evaluation of the type and volume content of porosity in a composite specimen is important for quality control and for predicting material behaviour during service. A suitable way to evaluate the porosity content in composites is by using nonlinear ultrasonics because of their sensitivity to small cracks.

The aim of this study is to describe the surgical technique of extraperitoneal retrograde hysterectomy, which has allowed a reduction of blood transfusions compared to patients who underwent classical post-partum hysterectomy.
Study Design: We collected data from twelve patients with antenatal diagnosis of PASd treated between 2018 and 2021 with an extra-peritoneal hysterectomy using a posterior retrograde approach and we compared them to patients who underwent classical hysterectomy for suspected PASd, treated between 2007 and 2017.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are neurodevelopmental disorders whose diagnosis is clinical and with great variability in clinical presentation. The possibility of identifying and validating biomarkers in these neurodevelopmental disorders would help not only in their diagnosis, but also when implementing personalized treatments and monitori ng the response to treatment. Neurophysiological examinations such as event related potentials (ERP) are one of the most widely used tools to objectively assess cognitive functions with high temporal resolution and provide information on the underlying neurobiological mechanisms, making them a very useful tool to assess cognitive alterations associated with neurodevelopmental disorders.

Introduction: Pancreatic tuberculosis is unusual, with an incidence reported to be less than 4,7 % worldwide.
Case Report: We report the case of a 32-year-old man recently diagnosed with HIV whose adenopathy syndrome was understudy. Lymph node cervical and bone marrow biopsies were performed without evidence of neoplastic infiltration, fungal infection, or tuberculosis.
Intestinal ultrasound (IUS) plays a crucial role as a non-invasive and accurate tool to diagnose and assess inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The rationale for using IUS in Crohn's disease (CD), a transmural disease, is widely acknowledged. While the use of IUS in ulcerative colitis (UC), a mucosal disease, is often underestimated, but, recently, it is increasingly expanding.

As seen in the femoral head, the circulatory implications characteristic of this condition are attributable to the interaction between a genetic predisposition and the exposure to certain risk factors. There is no consensus regarding the pathogenesis of osteonecrosis, yet the final common pathway results in disrupted blood supply, increased intraosseous pressure, and bone death.

Studies on the association between the CSA and RCT show considerable differences in design, and this could be responsible for the variation in study results.
Purpose: To (1) describe the reliability of CSA measurement and (2) evaluate the results of the studies reporting the association between the CSA and RCT using meta-analytical techniques to explore potential sources of variation of study results.
Background: Lung cancer is mainly diagnosed at advanced or locally advanced stages, usually when symptoms become evident. However, sometimes it may be diagnosed incidentally during routine care, while patients are still asymptomatic. Prognosis differences based on symptomatic presentation have been partially explored.

Evidence suggests that central aortic blood pressure (CABP) may provide a more accurate prognosis of cardiovascular events than peripheral pressure. The capability of monitoring CABP in a continuous, wearable, unobtrusive way might have a significant impact on hypertension management. The purpose of this study is to experimentally explore whether a wearable device equipped with an electrocardiogram (ECG) and ballistocardiogram (BCG) acquisition system could be used to predict CABP.

Owing to hemodynamic regulatory dysfunction and impairment of sympathetic regulation of heart rate, anesthesia is challenging. We report the successful management of anesthesia in a 26-year-old pregnant woman presenting with a mild phenotype of AADCD.

Midline catheters compared with peripheral intravenous catheters are associated with fewer venipunctures and scheduled line changes. We present 2 cases of pregnant women with no personal or family history of thrombosis who underwent midline catheter insertion and developed venous thromboembolism of the upper extremity requiring anticoagulation therapy.

Growth hormone therapy can increase the metabolism of hydrocortisone or endogenous cortisol, unmasking borderline ACTH deficiency and leading to the development of adrenal insufficiency and adrenal crisis. In addition, growth hormone can enhance the metabolism of thyroxine to triiodothyronine, uncovering borderline TSH deficiency.

Pulse transit time (ptt) is a widely researched approach for wearable, unobtrusive, blood pressure monitoring. The estimation of ptt, being a delay measurement, may be affected by the group delay introduced by the signal conditioning chain. In this work a previously reported method for estimating central (aortic) blood pressure from ptt at aortic domain, using ECG R wave and BCG J wave detection, is considered.

However, when encountered they represent a diagnostic challenge, since it is difficult to distinguish them from primary thyroid lesions, especially when occurring in patients with occult malignant history. Nevertheless, it is critical to differentiate a metastatic tumor from primary thyroid lesions, as the clinical management and the prognosis are different for the two entities.

We present a case of a 61 years old man with symptomatic hypercalcemia due to an ectopic parathyroid adenoma in the upper-anterior mediastinum that was not localized by the scintigraphy. Ultrasonography identified a nodule on the left upper-superior lobe of the thyroid gland, consistent with a parathyroid adenoma; scintigraphy showed two focuses of abnormal tracer uptake, one on the left upper-superior lobe of the gland and the other on the right inferior lobe of the gland.

Background And Objectives: Recently, several Authors have emphasized the relationship between oxidative stress and thyroid tumors. Several methods have been proposed in the literature for the measurement of oxidative stress in human tissues, although the high reactivity and short half life of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species make difficult their direct determination. Here we propose a novel approach for the determination of oxidative stress in human tissues, taking into account the relationship between free radicals and thyroid diseases.

The presence of disease in laboratory animals can lead to spurious results for research undertaken in universities, research institutes and the pharmaceutical industry.
