Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate the role of F-fluorodeoxyglucose ((18)F-FDG) PET/computed tomography (CT) in the early postoperative staging of breast cancer and to document (18)F-FDG PET/CT-based stage alterations and any subsequent impact on management.

Materials And Methods: Between January 2009 and June 2012, PET/CT images of patients with histopathologically proven breast cancer who underwent surgery with no previous chemotherapy or radiotherapy were retrospectively reviewed. Any stage alteration due to a change in nodal or metastatic status on PET/CT was noted.

Aims: To study the clinical hand findings in Behçet's disease (BD) and to observe scintigraphic changes of these areas.

Methods: Fifty-seven randomly selected BD patients and the patients in the control group (N=40) were evaluated by two blind rheumatologists. The hands were examined for the presence of pain, tenderness, swelling, effusion, erythema, warmth, range of motion and limitation of motion, deformities and muscle atrophy.

The authors report a patient with persistent left knee pain after traumatic injury. The initial bone scan seemed to confirm a valgus stress knee injury. The final diagnosis, however, was focal inflammation of the knee ligaments (enthesopathy) related to ankylosing spondylitis.

Unlabelled: In vitro studies have demonstrated that (99m)Tc-methoxyisobutylisonitrile ((99m)Tc-MIBI) is a transport substrate of multidrug resistance (MDR)-related proteins. The aim of this clinical study was to evaluate whether (99m)Tc-MIBI scintigraphy was a functional imaging tool for in vivo detection of multidrug resistance-associated protein (MRP) expression in osteosarcoma and to investigate the role of MRP and (99m)Tc-MIBI imaging to predict the clinical outcome. We also examined whether the scintigraphic parameters would help to distinguish the functional capacity of P-glycoprotein (Pgp) and MRP.

Encapsulation of technetium-99m sestamibi ((99m)Tc-MIBI) in polyethyleneglycol-liposomes ((99m)Tc-MIBI-PEG-liposomes) could extend the duration of its circulation in blood and alter its biodistribution, enabling its concentration in tumours to be increased. An original method to encapsulate (99m)Tc-MIBI in PEG-liposomes is described. The (99m)Tc-MIBI-PEG-liposomes were compared with free (99m)Tc-MIBI with respect to (a) tumour availability (b) ability to distinguish between chemotherapy-sensitive and -resistant cells and (c) uptake ratio in tumour imaging.

The authors describe a complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and discuss its type according to the presence or absence of nerve injury. A patient underwent thromboendarterectomy of the right popliteal artery. Subsequently, right lower limb reflex sympathetic dystrophy developed, which was confirmed by scintigraphy and responded well to calcitonin treatment.
