A novel approach based on supervised machine-learning is proposed to predict the solubility of drugs and drug-like molecules in mixtures of organic solvents. Similar to quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) models, different solvent types are identified by molecular descriptors, which, in this study, are considered as UNIFAC subgroups. To overcome the potential lack of UNIFAC subgroups for the complex Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) currently developed in the pharmaceutical industry, the API molecule is considered as a unique entity in the proposed modelling approach.

This paper describes a programme for evaluation and improvement of the organ donation process, which has been implemented in the hospitals of the Tuscany region, Italy. Purpose: To quantify the incidence of second malignant tumors (SMT) as a whole and that of second "solid" tumors (SST) and leukemia (L) in a large series of 1524 Hodgkin's disease (HD) patients (pts) treated at the Florence University Hospital (UFH); to define the clinical and therapeutic features possibly related with SMT occurrence; to evaluate the consequences of SMT for the overall survival of the series studied and for the choice of the treatment of HD at presentation.
Methods And Materials: From 1960 to 1991, 1524 pts with HD, Clinical Stage (CS) I--IV have been treated at the UFH. Overall treatment consisted of radiation alone (RT, 36%), chemotherapy alone (CHT, 21%), or both (RT + CHT, 43%).
We have identified a cell population expressing erythroid (TER-119) and megakaryocyte (4A5) markers in the bone marrow of normal mice. This population is present at high frequency in the marrows and in the spleens involved in the erythroid expansion that occurs in mice recovering from phenylhydrazine (PHZ)-induced hemolytic anemia. TER-119(+)/4A5(+) cells were isolated from the spleen of PHZ-treated animals and were found to be blast-like benzidine-negative cells that generate erythroid and megakaryocytic cells within 24-48 hours of culture in the presence of erythropoietin (EPO) or thrombopoietin (TPO).

An autoimmune origin for this complex disorder was not supported by the presence of organ specific antibodies, but T cells were found to be of polyclonal origin, as demonstrated by molecular analysis of T cell receptor (TCR) gene rearrangement. The pathophysiology of this case, based on laboratory findings and response to therapy, is discussed.

Moreover, 125I-Epo binding and Scatchard analyses, indicated that TF-1 cells, maintained in standard conditions with IL-3, and those stimulated with c-kit ligand, bear a single class of EpoR.
