Remote monitoring is beneficial for the management of patients with cardiovascular implantable electronic devices by impacting morbidity and mortality. With increasing numbers of patients using remote monitoring, keeping up with higher volume of remote monitoring transmissions creates challenges for device clinic staff. This international multidisciplinary document is intended to guide cardiac electrophysiologists, allied professionals, and hospital administrators in managing remote monitoring clinics.

The isotopic characteristics of ocean island basalts have long been used to infer the nature of their source and the long-term evolution of the Earth's mantle. Anticorrelation between tungsten and helium isotopic signatures is a particularly puzzling feature in those basalts, which no single process appears to explain. Traditionally, the high He/He signature has been attributed to an undegassed reservoir in the deep mantle.

The orientation of, and contacts between, grains of sand reflect the processes that deposit the sands. Grain orientation and contact geometry also influence mechanical properties. Quantifying and understanding sand microstructure thus provide an opportunity to understand depositional processes better and connect microstructure and macroscopic properties.

A 43-year-old male with heart failure and a reduced ejection fraction who had an ICD presented with decompensated heart failure and received an LVAD as a bridge to transplant. Remote monitoring showed persistent atrial fibrillation causing an inappropriate ICD shock leading to a decision to disable shock therapies.

The purpose of the present study was to determine the presence and magnitude of seasonal variation in daily PA in community-dwelling individuals with HF using several analytic approaches.
Methods: Retrospective chart review of patients with HF and Medtronic implantable cardioverter defibrillator/cardiac resynchronisation therapy (ICD/CRT) devices.
Electric field-directed assembly of colloidal nanoparticles (NPs) has been widely adopted for fabricating functional thin films and nanostructured surfaces. While first-order electrokinetic effects on NPs are well-understood in terms of classical models, effects of second-order electrokinetics that involve induced surface charge are still poorly understood. Induced charge electroosmotic phenomena, such as electrohydrodynamic (EHD) flow, have long been implicated in electric field-directed NP assembly with little experimental basis.

Healthcare providers need to advise patients regarding restrictions related to these activities in the context of the clinical indication for the ICD. Ethical considerations need to be considered when advising ICD patients of restrictions to reduce risk of injury to themselves and to others when participating in either sports or driving.

However, there are situations where an ICD cannot be immediately implanted, even though the patient is at high risk for SCD. The wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) is a unique technology that can bridge this gap for patients.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the temporal trends in utilization, in-hospital mortality, and complications of catheter ablation of postinfarction VT in the United States.
Methods: We used the 2002-2011 Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) database to identify all patients ≥18 years of age with a primary diagnosis of VT (International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Edition, Clinical Modification [ICD-9-CM] code 427.
