Pulmonary surfactant, the primary substance lining the epithelium of the human Lower Respiratory Tract (LRT), is rich in lipids, with dipalmitoyl-phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) being the most abundant. Although surfactants are known to have antifungal activity against some yeast species, the significant presence of species like Malassezia restricta in the lung mycobiome suggests that these yeasts may exhibit some level of lipo-tolerance or even lipo-affinity for pulmonary lipids. This study explored the affinity and tolerance of yeasts, identified as significant members of the lung microbiome, to pulmonary lipids through culture-based methods.

Despite the analytical sensitivity of immunoassays, they may lack adequate accuracy due to several analytical interferences, such as the presence of heterophilic antibodies. Immunoassays for PTH measurement use the immunometric "sandwich" technique, and only a few cases of interference with this assay have been reported to date.

Methods: The study included all consecutive patients treated at participating institutions with the Gore Excluder IBE device who received a covered stent (i.e.
Introduction: Adolescents represent an important demographic percentage in the studied population and in Emergency Departments (ED). It is imperative that health professionals and services are prepared to address this population. This work aims to characterize adolescents at the ED of a Brazilian private tertiary hospital.

Gore & Associates, Flagstaff, AZ, USA) as bridging stent in branched endovascular aortic repair (B-EVAR).

Currently, the widespread diffusion of these techniques has led to a progressive increase of complex endovascular procedures also in younger and fitter patients, but the related results have been only minimally reported, without long-term data. We investigated the long-term results of F/BEVAR for CAAA and TAAA repair in young and fit patients.

The development of prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission-computed tomography (PSMA PET/CT) has generated immense expectations due to its diagnostic accuracy in prostate cancer (PCa). PSMA expression of the primary tumor, quantified by SUVmax, is a predictor of oncological outcomes.

Isolated increases in TCRγδ+ and celiac lymphogram (increased TCRγδ+ plus decreased CD3-) may enable differential diagnosis in this challenging clinical setting. This study evaluated: (1) the accuracy of %TCRγδ+ and celiac lymphogram for diagnosing CD before and after GFD and for differentiation with NCGS; (2) TCRγδ+ kinetics at baseline and after starting GFD in both CD and NCGS.

High-resolution instruments typically fail to detect such low levels. However, the latest advancements in liquid time-of-flight technology, when coupled with ion trapping, enable ion enrichment, thereby improving detection levels.

A loss-of-function shRNA targeted screen in metastatic-derived cells identified Gstt1, a member of the glutathione S-transferase superfamily, as uniquely required for dissemination and metastasis, but dispensable for primary tumour growth. Gstt1 is expressed in latent disseminated tumour cells (DTCs), is retained within a subpopulation of slow-cycling cells within existing metastases, and its inhibition leads to complete regression of macrometastatic tumours.

In recent and coming years, many centers are changing their technical setup from a conventional TBI technique to multi-isocenter conformal arc therapy techniques such as Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) or Helical Tomotherapy (HT). These techniques allow better homogeneity and control of the target prescription dose, and provide more freedom for individualized organ-at-risk sparing.

The objective of this study was to quantify the impact of CYP2A6 genotype on letrozole pharmacokinetics (PK), to identify non-adherent patients using a population approach and explore the possibility of a relationship between non-adherence and early relapse.

The study aimed to identify factors that affect postoperative morbidity after either robot-assisted laparoscopy (RL) or conventional laparoscopy (CL) in gynecologic oncology.
Methods: The study used two-level logistic regression analyses to evaluate the prognostic and predictive value of patient, surgery, and center characteristics in predicting severe postoperative morbidity 6 months after surgery.
HSP47, a chaperone whose main function is the maturation of collagen molecules, is considered a marker of fibrotic diseases. Increased collagen synthesis in the testis has been associated with various pathologies leading to seminiferous tubule regression. Our aim was to study whether HSP47 is expressed in hamster Sertoli cells both in the adult and in two physiological situations of seminiferous tubule atrophy: irreversible testicular ageing and testicular regression due to short photoperiod (reversible).

We focused on the design, evolution, implementation, and prospects of endovascular dual branch technology for treatment of pathologies in the aortic arch.

Background: Total lymphoid irradiation (TLI) is a conditioning regimen in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) which may reduce long-term toxicities attributed to other techniques, such as total body irradiation (TBI). At our institution, TLI treatments were first planned with the three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) technique and later with volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT). With the recent availability of a basic helical tomotherapy (HT), the possible dosimetric gain of the latter for TLI is studied.

Initial assessments focused on the ion source's chemical inertness, employing nitrobenzene as a benchmark to monitor the hydrogenation process. A method with a duration of less than 12 minutes was developed, achieving good chromatographic peak resolution attributable to the enhanced chromatographic performance of hydrogen as a carrier gas.
