Rhinoplasty is one of the major surgical procedures most popular and it is generally performed modelling the internal bones and cartilage using a closed approach to reduce the damage of soft tissue, whose final shape is determined by means of their new settlement over the internal remodelled rigid structures. An optimal planning, achievable thanks to advanced acquisition of 3D images and thanks to the virtual simulation of the intervention via specific software. Anyway, the final result depends also on factors that cannot be totally predicted regarding the settlement of soft tissues on the rigid structures, and a final objective check would be useful to eventually perform some adjustments before to conclude the intervention.

Current diagnosis emphasizes the detection of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) using a fixed threshold of ≥15-mm maximum wall thickness (MWT). This study proposes a method that considers individual demographics to adjust LVH thresholds as an alternative to a 1-size-fits-all approach.

It is questionable whether single-gene RT-PCR versus next-generation sequencing (NGS) should be used for this evaluation. Moreover, co-occurring mutations have an impact on tumor behavior and may influence future therapeutic decision-making.

State-of-the-art algorithms in medical imaging are predominantly diverging from computer vision, where voxel grids, meshes, point clouds, and implicit surface models are used. This is seen from the growing popularity of ShapeNet (51,300 models) and Princeton ModelNet (127,915 models).

Background: Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (RBD) may precede motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD) by years. According to a recent hypothesis, premotor RBD (pRBD) is a marker of the PD body-first subtype, where synucleinopathy originates from the peripheral autonomic nervous system. Conversely, in the brain-first subtype, pathology would arise in the brain.

Methods: This single-centre retrospective study of critically ill patients with active cancers was performed over a 13-year period (2005-2018). Patients' characteristics, overall survival, and antineoplastic treatment reprisal were extracted from digital medical files and compared.
Lithium metal anode batteries have attracted significant attention as a promising energy storage technology, offering a high theoretical specific capacity and a low electrochemical potential. Utilizing lithium metal as the anode material can substantially increase energy density compared with conventional lithium-ion batteries. However, the practical application of lithium metal anodes has encountered notable challenges, primarily due to the formation of dendritic structures during cycling.

HSPB8 is involved in various cellular mechanisms mainly related to proteotoxic stress response and in other processes such as inflammation, cell division, and migration. HSPB8 binds misfolded clients to prevent their aggregation by assisting protein refolding or degradation through chaperone-assisted selective autophagy.

The use of companion diagnostics has become a standard in precision oncology in the context of ongoing therapeutic innovation. However, certain limitations make their application imperfect in current practice. This position paper underscores the need to broaden the notion of companion testing, considering the potential of emerging technologies, including computational biology, to overcome these limitations.

We characterised five key mutants covering the whole spectrum of KIF5A-related phenotypes: spastic paraplegia (SPG, R17Q and R280C), Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT, R864*), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, N999Vfs*40), and neonatal intractable myoclonus (NEIMY, C975Vfs*73) KIF5A mutants. CMT-R864*-KIF5A and ALS-N999Vfs*40-KIF5A showed impaired autoinhibition and peripheral localisation accompanied by altered mitochondrial distribution, suggesting transport competence disruption.

Lysosomes are acidic organelles involved in crucial intracellular functions, including the degradation of organelles and protein, membrane repair, phagocytosis, endocytosis, and nutrient sensing. Given these key roles of lysosomes, maintaining their homeostasis is essential for cell viability. Thus, to preserve lysosome integrity and functionality, cells have developed a complex intracellular system, called lysosome quality control (LQC).

CMR could determine the myocardial extent and matching locations of ischemia and infarction.
Objectives: This study sought to investigate if CMR peri-infarct ischemia is associated with adverse events incremental to known risk markers.
Autonomic symptoms in Parkinson's disease result from variable involvement of the central and peripheral systems, but many aspects remain unclear. The analysis of functional connectivity has shown promising results in assessing the pathophysiology of Parkinson's disease. This study aims to investigate the association between autonomic symptoms and cortical functional connectivity in early Parkinson's disease patients using high-density EEG.

Perfusion PET-derived myocardial blood flow (MBF) reserve (MBFR) can quantify CMVD but is not widely available. Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) frame count (TFC) is an angiography-based method that has been proposed as a measure of CMVD.

Methods: This ancillary study includes 195 patients with metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with ICI in monotherapy, either pembrolizumab or nivolumab. Plasmatic levels of IL-18-related compounds, comprising the inhibitor IL-18 binding protein (IL-18BP), the inactive IL-18 (corresponding to IL-18/IL-18BP complex), and the active free IL-18, were assayed by ELISA.
Aim: To determine the long-term prognosis of immune-related response profiles (pseudoprogression and dissociated response), not covered by conventional PERCIST criteria, in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICPIs).
Methods: 109 patients were prospectively included and underwent [F]FDG-PET/CT at baseline, after 7 weeks (PET1), and 3 months (PET2) of treatment. On PET1, tumor response was assessed using standard PERCIST criteria.
In recent years, climate change has led to higher grape must sugar content and, consequently, increased alcohol by volume. Evaporative or pertraction is a common method for post-fermentation ethanol removal from wines, but it selectively removes some less polar volatile compounds along with ethanol. To mitigate volatile substance loss, this study investigates blending of the red wine (Marzemino-Cabernet blend) with obtained dealcoholized samples from it by industrial evaporative pertraction system, while maintaining the final product within a two-percentage-point reduction in ethanol.
