Unlabelled: The aim of this study is to develop equations for aerobic exercise prescription for the intensities of 50, 60, 70 and 80% in healthy subjects of both sexes.

Method: This is a cross-sectional study with convenience sampling drawn from a database of 228 healthy subjects who were randomized into the regression group (GR: 197 subjects (male = 143 and female = 54)) and cross-validation group (CVG: 31 individuals [men = 20 and women = 11]). Kohavi's assumptions were followed in relation to cross-validation and bootstrap for precision estimation and model selection.

Unlabelled: To verify the influence of the resting heart rate (RHR) measurement on different positions in the calculation of VO intensities in young individuals of both sexes.

Methods: A cross-sectional study with a correlational design with a sample of 22 men and 11 women, aged 27.8 ± 6.

Background: Cardiopulmonary exercise testing is the main tool assessing cardiorespiratory fitness. However, cardiopulmonary exercise testing devices are expensive and often cannot be used.

Objective: The present study sought to develop cardiopulmonary exercise testing equations for estimating maximum oxygen uptake from ergometric testing combined with ventilometry.

Objective To analyze the effect of 12 weeks of physical activity on the morphology of the women enrolled in the Family Health Program in the city of Patos, Paraíba, Brazil. During these weeks, different physical activity programs were applied. Methods A quasi-experimental study, in which 28 women were analyzed.

The present study investigated the accumulated oxygen deficit (AOD) method in breaststroke swimming with the aims to assess the reliability of the oxygen uptake/swimming velocity regression line and to quantify the precision of the AOD. Sixteen male swimmers performed two swimming tests in different days, with a 24-h recovery between tests: a graded swimming test and an all-out test. The all-out test was performed in one of two distances: 100 m (n = 7) or 200 m (n = 9).

Objective: Develop models to estimate the cardiopulmonary fitness without the effort test accomplishment, focusing an epidemiologic survey in young Brazilians. For that purpose, 243 volunteers were evaluated: 137 men (25 ,4 +/-6,39 years old) and 106 women (23,68+/-5,23 years old).

Method: The volunteers were randomized into two groups (Group 1 : control - with 81 men and 58 women; and Group 2 : cross-validation - with 56 men and 48 women), submitted to cardiopulmonary effort tests with direct gas analysis.

Purpose: To compare the results of equations for estimate of the indirect maximal oxygen consumption with obtained them in test ergoespirometric in young individuals.

Methods: Fifty-two individuals of the masculine sex were submitted to the test of effort with it analyzes direct of gases in treadmill for the determination of the maximum consumption of oxygen (VO2máx). The progressive protocol was used with load increment to each one minute.
