Dual PPRαϒ Agonists for the Management of Dyslipidemia: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Clinical Trials.

Saroglitazar is a novel medication for dyslipidemia, but its specific effects remain unclear. Therefore, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of saroglitazar for managing dyslipidemia. The PubMed, Scopus, and EMBASE databases were systematically searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing 2 and 4 mg of saroglitazar with placebos for treating dyslipidemia.

A Rare Case of Recurrent Temporomandibular Joint Dislocation Associated with Pneumatized Articular Eminence. Surgical Treatment by Eminoplasty with Miniplates.

Performing a surgical treatment for TMJ dislocation combined with pneumatized articular eminence is a technical challenge for the surgeon, as this condition has a low population frequency. This article aimed to present one case of recurrent temporomandibular joint dislocation treated by eminoplasty with miniplates in a patient affected by bilateral pneumatized articular eminence. After 15 months of follow-up, the patient presented approximately 43 mm of interincisal distance.

Clinical and Genetic Risk Factors for Drug-Induced Liver Injury Associated with Anti-Tuberculosis Treatment-A Study from Patients of Portuguese Health Centers.

Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is an unpredictable and feared side effect of antituberculosis treatment (AT). The present study aimed to identify clinical and genetic variables associated with susceptibility to AT-associated hepatotoxicity in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis treated with a standard protocol. Of 233 patients enrolled, 90% prospectively, 103 developed liver injury: 37 with mild and 66 with severe phenotype (DILI).

Robbin C. Moran, Fern and Lycophyte Curator- an Appreciation.

To mark the commencement of his retirement as Nathaniel Lord Britton Curator of Botany, and appointment as Curator Emeritus at the New York Botanical Garden, we pay tribute to Robbin Moran and impact on the botanical community with a brief synopsis of his career. Naturalist, fern expert, adored teacher-it is difficult to adequately pay tribute to his accomplishments, and his impact on botany in a single article. Robbin has published four books, 13 monographs of neotropical fern clades, over 170 scientific papers, and dozens of popular articles.

CO-RADS: Coronavirus Classification Review.

In mid-January of 2021, there were over 95 million diagnosed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases and approximately 2 million deaths worldwide. COVID-19 cases requiring hospitalization or intensive care show changes in computed tomography of the chest with improved sensitivity. Several radiology societies have attempted to standardize the reporting of pulmonary involvement by COVID-19.

Background: Brazilian protected areas are essential for plant conservation in the Atlantic Forest domain, one of the 36 global biodiversity hotspots. A major challenge for improving conservation actions is to know the plant richness, protected by these areas. Online databases offer an accessible way to build plant species lists and to provide relevant information about biodiversity.

Using online databases to produce comprehensive accounts of the vascular plants from the Brazilian protected areas: The Parque Nacional do Itatiaia as a case study.

Background: Brazil is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, with about 37,000 species of land plants. Part of this biodiversity is within protected areas. The development of online databases in the last years greatly improved the available biodiversity data.

Myositis Ossificans Traumatica of the Temporal Muscle: a Case Report and Literature Review Emphasizing Radiographic Features on Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Objectives: Heterotopic bone formation within a muscle is designated as 'myositis ossificans', and it is associated with multiple aetiologies, such as trauma, genetic predisposition, post-infection, or undetermined causes. When the disease develops as a result of a trauma, the myositis ossificans is classified as 'myositis ossificans traumatica'. In this case report, a case of myositis ossificans traumatica is described, emphasizing its imaging features.

Dural and Leptomeningeal Spine Metastases of Breast Cancer.

We present a case of a 57-year-old female diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer, which was treated and in remission for 12 years. In 2018 she presented a progressive dorsal back pain, which prevented her from performing basic tasks. An MR study was performed and revealed the presence of an extramedullary metastatic sleeve located in the thoracic intradural space.

Multisystemic Benign Metastasizing Leiomyoma: An Unusual Condition with an Atypical Clinical Presentation.

Benign metastasizing leiomyoma (BML) is a rarely found entity with few documented cases in the literature, usually occurring in women of reproductive age with a history of myomectomy or hysterectomy. The leiomyomas can metastasize to several organs, the lungs being the most commonly affected. We report a case of a 40-year-old female patient who presented at our institution with low back pain.

ATLANTIC EPIPHYTES: a data set of vascular and non-vascular epiphyte plants and lichens from the Atlantic Forest.

Epiphytes are hyper-diverse and one of the frequently undervalued life forms in plant surveys and biodiversity inventories. Epiphytes of the Atlantic Forest, one of the most endangered ecosystems in the world, have high endemism and radiated recently in the Pliocene. We aimed to (1) compile an extensive Atlantic Forest data set on vascular, non-vascular plants (including hemiepiphytes), and lichen epiphyte species occurrence and abundance; (2) describe the epiphyte distribution in the Atlantic Forest, in order to indicate future sampling efforts.

Reliability and Construct Validity of Yo-Yo Tests in Untrained and Soccer-Trained Schoolgirls Aged 9-16.

Purpose: The reliability and construct validity of three age-adapted-intensity Yo-Yo tests were evaluated in untrained (n = 67) vs. soccer-trained (n = 65) 9- to 16-year-old schoolgirls.

Methods: Tests were performed 7 days apart for reliability (9- to 11-year-old: Yo-Yo intermittent recovery level 1 children's test; 12- to 13-yearold: Yo-Yo intermittent endurance level 1; and 14- to 16-year-old: Yo-Yo intermittent endurance level 2).

Histologic and Histometric Analysis of Bone Repair at the Site of Mandibular Body Osteotomy and at the Bone-Screw Interface After Using a Biodegradable 2.0-mm Internal Fixation System.

The aim of the study was to evaluate histologically and histometrically the bone repair at the mandibular body osteotomy and at the bone-screw interface after using a biodegradable 2.0-mm internal fixation system. Six dogs were subjected to an osteotomy in the mandibular body, which was stabilized by applying a fixation device manufactured with poly-L-DL-lactic acid (70:30).

Mandibular bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis after dental implant rehabilitation: a case report.

It has been a matter of debate as to whether dental implant therapies are suitable for patients subjected to long-term use of bisphosphonates (BPs). This report presents a case of a 76-year-old woman who developed BPs-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) in the left hemimandible after dental implant exposure. The implants and the necrotic crestal bone were removed, and postoperatively, a delay in tissue healing with bone exposure was noticed.

Oral myiasis in an elderly patient.

Background: Myiasis is the invasion of living tissue of humans and other mammals by eggs or maggots of flies of the order of Diptera. It occurs mainly in the Tropics and is associated with inadequate public and personal hygiene. Oral myiases in an older man appears to be rare.

[Hepatopulmonary syndrome: case report and literature review].

Hepatopulmonary syndrome is an important complication of chronic liver disease occurring in 16 24% of patients. It is characterized by an increase in alveolar -capillary gradient, with or without hypoxemia, due to intrapulmonary vasodilatation. The course of the disease is progressive and associated with increased morbidity and mortality.

[Thoracic nocardiosis].

Nocardiosis is an opportunistic infection which occurs mostly in immunocompromised individuals. Pulmonary presentation is the most frequent; however it can affect other parts of the body. Antibiotic treatment is usually prolonged to avoid relapses.

[Thoracic endometriosis].

Thoracic endometriosis is defined by the presence of endometrial tissue in the lungs or pleura, and is characterised by cyclic hemoptysis or recurrent hemothorax or pneumothorax occurring with the menstruation. Being a rare clinical entity, it is not always considered in the differential diagnosis when these symptoms are evaluated. The exams performed during the diagnostic work-up frequently show nonspecific alterations, however a presumptive diagnosis can be made based on the typical clinical history.

Pulmonary artery sarcoma and chronic thromboembolism.

Pulmonary artery sarcoma is a rare and highly lethal disease whose clinical findings are often indistinguishable from those of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. Partial improvement after thrombolytic therapy has suggested that thromboembolic phenomena may be superimposed on the tumor, but, to date, a well-documented statement of these events has not been provided.

Topical betablocker use can result in inconclusive dobutamine stress echocardiography in patients with glaucoma.

Dobutamine stress echocardiography is a well-established method to assess coronary artery disease, of which sensitivity has been enhanced by adding atropine at the end of the protocol. Individuals with glaucoma, a disease with a high prevalence in patients with cardiac diseases older than 40 years, cannot benefit from the use of atropine as it is contraindicated for this group of patients. Additionally, these individuals are often treated with topical betablockers (eye drops), which can have systemic effects by decreasing cardiac frequency, blood pressure and pulmonary capacity.
